Not sure if this is the right category...

To cut a long story short...The house next door to my parents is up for sale, a work colleague/friend of mine used to rent the house and was an alcoholic, unfortunately he couldnt get himself out of his downward sprial and he ended up being found dead on the bedroom floor by his son who was 15.
The house has fallen into massive disrepear and the opportunity is there for me to look into buying it and 'doing-it-up' as i know the owners.
my question is would any of you feel put off by the fact that someone you know died in it?

no you go for it once youve done it to your taste it wil be lovely,it wouldnt bother me at all
it would give me a moments pause.. but just a moment, i wouldn't let the opportunity pass me by.
Hi sam100, A home is what you make it!.... if you go ahead and purchase it, you could always ask your local preist or reverand to bless the house incase their is any bad vibes about. Good Luck. X X X :-)
Most homes, apart from new builds obviously, have had someone die in them. If you were to go and buy a nice victorian conversion then probably about 5 people have died in it. As long as you are respectful in your opportunity its cool
good point badgerchops - my little flat is in a victorian conversion and was built will over 100 years ago, in modern history (last 40 years) i've been told by the neighours of various deaths in the place, so over a period of over 100 many folks must have passed away within these walls... don't let it bother you, humans have been around long enough that everywhere you go will prob have been the site of someones death

Thanks for all the answers...it normally wouldnt even cross my mind but because i knew the person and knew exactly which bit of the room he died in it would just cross my mind...it would need a lot of work so would be dramatically changed in appearence which i guess would help....once i got rid of the smell!!
To ease your mind then just put a large dried flower display, twigs or something like a plant etc in that corner as respect. Although you don't need to but it would make youj feel better
Go for it, no reason why not!!
The whole world is a graveyard, but I'm happy to live here
I've lived in many houses where people have died and in one where my friend took his own life. These souls pass on and no way was I worried about living where these people/friends had lived. Go get the place as the departed have better things to do than concern themselves on who is living in a home that was theirs in their past life.
