A few months ago I noticed I was getting mysterious calls from the USA in the middle of the night.......don’t know anyone there......and I blocked them. My. iPhone is blocked for incoming calls at night. They’ve stopped now but why do people do this?

Have any of your friends had there phone stolen in the States. The only way the callers can get any attention is to be a nuisance they've little else in their lives.
Just curious - did you answer any of the calls?? If so, what did the caller say.
I'm only asking as I had something similar a while ago - kept getting phone calls in the early hours of the morning (I can't remember where the calls were from - might even have been UK).
Anyway I managed to catch one of the calls, so I answered it. The guy asked for someone I'd never heard of; I told him he'd got the wrong number and I was never bothered again.
It might just be a genuine mistake .... although it could also be a prank .... you won't know until you answer it (assuming you haven't answered it already).
Have you considered turning your phone off at night?

I didn’t answer any of them and my phone is off at night as I stated in my question. No phones of friends stolen in the USA. I think I had three all together and none since then. Besides blocking incoming calls at night except for family, I never take an unknown number.
Well if your phone is switched off at night, how do you know you are getting calls?
because when you turn an iphone on it tellsyou about missed calls
Ah, I see. My phone doesn't do that.
