A very common phone scam.Usually caller claims to be from BT.
Is this where you get a call from someone and they say you#re internet is about to be disconnected so you need to let them have access to your Network? If so 100% scam, tell them to jog on x
These are just recordings, usually a woman with an American accent.

Well that's what an American sounding chap has just told my wife on the telephone and the automated caller requested here to press one for an explanation. My wife put the phone down on the con merchant.

Hans.
i'm a lot luckier than you, i'm going to receive an atm cash card worth 4.5 million pounds ... it's only going to cost me £150 for transaction fees and it's all mine :-)

Usually a woman who rings me (recorded) a couple of times a week.
Join the club. We've all had them. The fact that my internet is not through BT seems to have escaped them.
I had a phone call from an American lady a few weeks back, my scam-antenna started to twitch. She then went on to tell me that I had won a 55inch TV and some money.

☺☺☺
The Microsoft technical support team are the best. You can chat for ages if you are bored. After making the right responses to the initial caller you get put through to a tech support supervisor, then the fun starts. I pretend to not know where the Ctrl Alt and R keys are the put the against the smoke alarm and press test.
Then put the phone.
I've never had one of these calls....

Is it only to landlines?
telling the scammer that rang you that you'd love to chat but you haven't got a phone really throws them

press mute & let them spend their phone time
Its normally Shirley that rings me, but she just threatens to cut me off, she never does it. Ha Ha!
When I saw the OP I thought that you already had been !

Just had my 4th call of the day from them, getting boring now ;o)
Like ummmm, we never get scam calls to either landline or mobiles...obviously doing something wrong!
Don't any of you have Caller display so you can see the number of the person calling you? If you don't know the number, don't answer it. Anyone who matters will leave a message.
I had a number to block these calls when I was with BT and it's the same now I'm with talktalk. I've only had one spam call in the last month, and that has been blocked now.

Gosh, I'm popular, number 5 now.

Helly, you have to bear in mind some of us like to wind them up
