This morning I had a call from 02053 788372, from a very cocky chap, claiming to be from Microsoft, wanting to discuss the "messages coming up on my computer". I decided to string him along for a moment, before laying into him. However he was VERY persistent and calm (usually they hang up when you have a go at them).
If you get a call like this it is best to hang up I know, but if you do what I did, don't be fooled by their manner. Microsoft don't ring people up about their computers!
I googled the number but couldn't find any other references to it on "Who Called Me" etc, so maybe it is a new one.

This scam has been around for years. I had a call once from a nice 'indian' sounding gentleman. I gave him a few expletives and told him where to stick his scam. A few moments later he rang back and started to abuse ME...
Quiet funny at the time.

Usually when you answer back they hang up pronto. I wonder if there is a new breed of smooth operators who are trained to keep you talking if you don't hang up :-)

I got fed up of one caller and told him that I didn't have a computer. "You are lying to me, madam, and that is wrong" he said just before slamming the phone down.

Actually I do recall once letting some sales bod rabbit on for ages and when I told him, politely, I wasn't interested he accused ME of wasting HIS time!
i get these tpes of call, example we heard you were in a car accident recently..me err i have no body im just a brain in a water tank..so yea i might have been in an accident, or the fake microsoft caller...me i say im officer padio furniture, or who flung dung chinese takeaway your order peas, i just love making stuff up, to wind them up, another good one is whisper on the phone...say..there's blood everywhere what can i do, it's all your fault, another funny one is scream at the phone and say loudly..bubba get back in your cell, dont make me get the hose.
indeed, Ichkeria, he risks not fulfilling his quota, and losing commission, if you keep him hanging on the line. I don't think this is particularly fair to people who are doing their job politely.
there all scam merchants, and dont deserve any commision only a jail sentence.
Wasn't 'Roger Williams' was it? I've had him on today and another who didn't give their name before they sussed me. Next one will be asked to send round a couple of prawn curries and some naan bread.
