Seven or eight every day. They say they are from TalkTalk, but I have spoken directly to TalkTalk and they have confirmed that it's not them.

I have tried to block the number, but believe it or not, they are using loads of different numbers. I have so far noted down 13!

How can I stop them?

TIA.

Don't answer your phone if you have caller display.
I don't think registering with the TPS will help, as these phone calls are clearly scams, so following the TPS guidelines will be the last thing on their list.
The only thing I can suggest is that you continue to block each number .... hopefully they'll have limited resources, so they'll run out of numbers soon.
If it was me though, I'd have them on ..... pretend to play along ..... drag it out for as long as you can. but don't get wound up .... and you could possibly end the phone call with a "this is fun - same time tomorrow then??"
If they know they're not getting anywhere - maybe they'll take you off their "list".
I remember having a 30 minute phone call with a scammer who was trying to convince me that I had a problem with my laptop .... it was hilarious :)

get a BT8500 phone it only lets through anyone in your address book - easy to block unknown numbers no matter how many

Thanks for all the very useful advice.

It's really getting on my nerves. All the numbers come up starting with 001, and it's then that I note down their numbers and block them. Problem is that my brother in America changed his number and I'd inadvertently blocked him!

I've tried the dog whistle blown down the phone, told them to hang on a second then left the phone for 15 minutes (by which time they had obviously hung up!), and also just acted as if I was playing along.

Still get the calls though!

Just for your information

I got a BT call blocker phone and it is fantastic. I have had it six months and I have had no cold calls and now only answer calls from numbers I don't know if I want to.

Once you have allowed your known numbers they are the only ones automaticly put through.

It is the best £70 I ever spent.

Baldric. I don't think the scammers would have the nerve to complain!

Fair enough, but as the idea of a scam is to make money out of you, damaged hearing, and the loss of ability to do their job might be a good route to take.
It's a funny old World.
Have to agree with CAC. Bought the latest model BT 8600 for £43 from amazon. I still get the odd call (about one a week) but this is because I allow Withheld numbers through as some are genuine. Definitely value for money.
I had the same problem when we moved house and I had to get a BT phone with call guardian. The calls stopped immediately. Worth every penny
Talktalk only covers up to 10 numbers. As with others above i decided to play along and act daft. Just say you cant find the computer then wander round from room to room until they get fedup. talk about the weather, anything. Ask them to hold on while you sign for a parcel. The sad thing is i think the callers actually believe they are working for Talktalk. Quite good fun.
