For the past 2 or 3 weeks I have been receiving something like 40 scam Emails per day. Most of them show the address, Unit 6923, PO Box 6945, London W1A. I have reason to suspect that my Email address may have been been hacked from Talktalk who is my internet service provider. Is anyone else having the same problem?

It is always best to have a number of different email addresses, then if one starts getting spam you can gradually stop using it and move to the others.

I have half a dozen email addresses for different things.

Thanks VHG for your suggestion.
Your e-mail service provider's server should be able to filter out spam for you. Otherwise, if you use one, your e-mail client should be capable of it: or any decent anti-virus programme. Else you could download mailwasher (the free version). Everyone gets spam; the trick is to get it slung before it bothers you.

Thanks Old_Geezer. Until three weeks ago Talktalk's filter was obviously effective as I was not receiving any spam at all and I am aware of two other Talktalk users who have been similarly affected. I'm taking up the matter with Tt but meanwhile will look at Mailwasher as you suggest.

Before I open any emails, I have a look at the list and delete any unknown/unrequired addresses the open what's left, I do this on a ½ dozen accounts daily, it's not a bother or a problem just something that needs doing.

Thanks Baldric.
I deal with this in much the same was as you suggest and at its peak was deleting 40 per day. In the last couple of days though they have reduced to just a handful.
I still feel the problem has been at the Talktalk end and have come across two other Talktalk users who have experienced the same problem in the last few weeks.
Spamming is the use of electronic messaging systems to send unsolicited messages (spam), especially advertising, as well as sending messages repeatedly on the same site. While the most widely recognized form of spam is email spam, the term is applied to similar abuses in other media: instant messaging spam, Usenet newsgroup spam, Web search engine spam, spam in blogs, wiki spam, online classified ads spam, mobile phone messaging spam, Internet forum spam, junk fax transmissions, social spam, television advertising and file sharing spam. It is named after Spam, a luncheon meat, by way of a Monty Python sketch in which Spam is included in every dish. The food is set disliked/unwanted, so the word came to be transferred by analogy.
Not an answer, just a frustrated I feel your pain - the last few weeks I have had up to 40 a day and I really, really don't want a safe hot Russian girlfriend or 50 free roulette spins. I am talk talk and don't use this email on any 'give us your email' - I have a hotmail especially for that. The spam filter doesn't filter these and the unsubscribe doesn't unsubscribe. I'm thinking the only solution is to terminate the email account but that's a pain as its my main 'sensible' one.

Thanks Cario for your comments - sorry you are also suffering this problem. After about three or four weeks the number of spam messages I was receiving dropped from 40 or so per day to around 6 or 8 as at present. Am interested to see you are also with Talktalk which makes me more convinced that these Emails are a result of either the previous or a new hacking into their systems.
I took the matter up with them and their first response was absolutely useless. I am now awaiting an answer to my further query.
This is a well know spam shop known as Results Generation.
