Don't you get fed up with Christians trying to take over our pagan festivals?

I want a chocolate crucifix.
I agree...Eostre is a pagan spring festival and should remain so....even the man nailed to a tree(or a cross) predates christianity somewhat the man god sacrificed to ensure the harvest
As long as the eggs are available...
What's the problem ? Just satisfying a market niche.
Buy a bar instead and get much better value.
Do they do eggs that if you eat them reappear all shiny and new in three days....that would be good
"I want a chocolate crucifix"

You might have to drill small pilot holes before nailing, the chocolate will be prone to cracking otherwise.
Pontius Pilate holes, surely ?
I think you have to let the Christians have this one - Christmas is definately pagan in origin and I know the name Easter comes from the pagan goddess but it's tied into passover not the equinox
theres already christian themed easter eggs in supermarkets....Aero is full of holes ....or is that bubbles?

Well, that's one view. Here's another:

"About 200 B.C. mystery cults began to appear in Rome just as they had earlier in Greece. Most notable was the Cybele cult centered on Vatican hill ...Associated with the Cybele cult was that of her lover, Attis (the older Tammuz, Osiris, Dionysus, or Orpheus under a new name). He was a god of ever-reviving vegetation. Born of a virgin, he died and was reborn annually. The festival began as a day of blood on Black Friday and culminated after three days in a day of rejoicing over the resurrection."

It's a slippery slope, get ready for a Jesus/Santa hybrid at the end of the year.
Like the Easter bunny/ Xmas reindeer for that well known choccie firm..

I'm not disputing the similarities between Christian beliefs and many of the others knocking about at the time.

You cand see assiliation in the old testament too with Noah and Gilgamesh.

But Christianity pretty shamelessly stole the old Roman festival for Christmas - no justification for it just bang that's ours now!

Easter at least is tied in with the story of Jesus' entry into Jerusalem at Passover hence the irritating movability of Easter
If, according to your link, it is a sign of the resurrection to billions of christians as the boulder that covered jesus' body, surely we should be seeing boulder shaped eggs in the supermarket!

I think I was a lot happier when I believed in the tooth fairy and easter bunny :-(
chocolate boulders would be better value as boulders aren't hollow.
Jesus is born (xmas) and we get presents,
Jesus dies (easter) and we get chocalate.
N
Not a bad deal I was trying to say...
There must be a lot of ladies looking forward to the second coming... with extrra chocolates.
Jake the irritating movability of a Easter has been going on for a long time, Hopefully all Christians will continue to observe it.
