I believe in a kind and loving God, the Creator of all there is.
The God of the Bible.
Deny Him at your peril.
In the O/T Gods' actions are questioned by todays atheists, but God built a nation using human strengths and weaknesses. The Jews. An amazing people with an amazing history, foretold in scripture.
Using human intervention in His nation building, God allowed ethnic cleansing and genocide, and indeed ordered it.
Should we judge God for this? Or should we trust in His higher majestic wisdom, as we ask our children to trust in us?

well if you put your trust into God, then He created those Muslims that you profess to hate.
It is a shame that people keep 'trusting' that there is an afterlife and all will be better there than trying to make the best out of this life.
As a prime example, you seem to believe that you are religious and you try to convert people to your religion.
But at the same time, you show disrespect for other people and profess hatred for them.
You are also selfish in your words against those more unfortunate that you.
Would be a much nicer world if people stopped thinking about the next life and concentrated on this one.

Good morning Theland, you believe in a kind and loving God, and yet in the first few lines of your question you've told us to deny him at our peril? Bit of a contradiction isn't it.
Where is this higher, majestic wisdom you refer to? I see no evidence of it whatsoever. And yes, we should judge this God on his record. Loving he isn't - or wasn't - and how anyone can condone his actions, let alone worship and adore him, is beyond my comprehension.

As I said - no respect for other people's view (in fact over 1/5th population of the globe).
By calling other religions names, all you are doing is showing childish, immature behaviour.
As Winston Churchill said, if you have to resort to insults, then you have already lost your argument.
Answerbank rules (as well as most people's morality) dictates that you treat others with respect.
You have shown that not only can you not respect the rules on AB, but you can't even act in a civilised manner.
This is (in my opinion) one of the main reasons that people no longer attend church - the hypocrisy of those who state that they practice it.

My views on a Cruel God, or, a Loving and merciful God.
First, if there really is a God, I think God and the Devol are one and the same.
In the Old Testament, God was a God of war, a cruel God who ordered and carried out punishments killings and conquests, to put it mildly.
Not forgetting, that man was put on this Earth for the sole purpose of worshipping and obeying him.
God is supposed to know and planned everything that has happened, and is going to happen, to the end of time, he can stop tradegies, wars etc, but doesn't, although in the Old Testament, he did personally intervene, for good or bad, in the interests of 'his people'
