Had a conversation recently with a ''born again'' type
(First conversation with a real life religionist in a while tbh....)

Thankfully only lasted a few minutes (felt like hours...but theres always one)
The usual subject of morals come from.
Atheists have no morals apparently. Or at least no OBJECTIVE morals without God.
I asked whose God?
Allah? Jehovah? Christ? Dionysius? etc.

I then asked where does God (In whatever way you view him/it/her) get THEIR morals from?
Conversation then petered out. (I was late for work anyway so no great loss)
I was in no way provoking an arguement, simply following through a logical discussion with a
question.

If humans need God's guidence to be moral, then where does God get his guidence from?

We've made god so his morality comes from us. A bigot will believe in a bigoted god and a liberal will project his own liberal views on the god he believes in.

Poorclare at 18.26 - if your suggestion is aimed at me, it falls on the proverbial stoney ground, I am an atheist.

//I would pray for guidance if I were you//
Who to?

The demon God called Jehovah?
Question Author
The Jehovah of the Old Testament can not be seen as anything other than a 'Demon' by any right thinking person.

Alber Einstein gives him good advice.
He asks me.
I found this today which sums it up perfectly for me.
Christianity:
The popular belief that a celestial Jewish baby who is also his own father, born from a virgin mother, died for three days so that he could ascend to heaven on a cloud and then make you live forever only if you symbolically eat his flesh, drink his blood and telepathically tell him you accept him as your lord & master so he can remove an evil force from your spiritual being that is present in all humanity, because an immoral woman made from a man's rib was hoodwinked by a talking reptile possessed by a malicious angel to secretly eat forbidden fruit from a magical tree.
Sounds perfectly plausible...
I think you missed an opportunity nailit. Shoulda just kicked him in the nuts and walked a way!

(unless it was a her)
God is good, meaning He is the essence of goodness. Out of all possible attributes available God chose for Himself the best.
It makes little sense to try and define good and evil, or morality without reference to God. A bit like trying to define a fish without reference to water
Question Author
I honestly, cannot workout how bible believers think that non believers are all immoral beings.....

All through 'HOLY' books God is portrayed as a tyrant by anybodies standards. (If any of his followers can be ar$ed to read them)

Question Author
/It makes little sense to try and define good and evil, or morality without reference to God//

Why??

The God of the Bible is Evil
(Especially the God of the Old Testament.....and the God of the New isnt much better)
Question Author
// Out of all possible attributes available God chose for Himself the best. //

What the hell is that supposed to mean?

Because Nailit you are just left with your own subjective idea of morality. My moral code is better than yours, try and prove me wrong
// Out of all possible attributes available God chose for Himself the best. //

Means exactly what it says

fiveleaves....
I hate the thought of having been commanded to stone people to death.
I just couldnt do it.
Could you??

I hate the thought of having to slice little children to bits.
Could you?
Because its there in your bible...

Question Author
Fiveleaves picks and chooses like the rest of them...
Question Author
//you are just left with your own subjective idea of morality//

And its a damn site better than your Bible Gods code of morallity.
Isn't it obvious? He networks with Anne McElvoy, Polly Toynbee and their leader/screecher-in-chief Melanie Phillips.
Balance is offered by Prof. Mona Sidiqui.

(sp for all the above)
Nailit. Where is this in the New Testament?
You have taken a couple of examples from the Old Testament and completely ignored the context.
Question Author
//You have taken a couple of examples from the Old Testament and completely ignored the context.//

So please educate me and put it 'IN' context.
When is it ever acceptable to stone people to death??
Your original question of Where does God his morals from? is nonsensical and God is the highest authority?
He takes guidance from no one. To suggest otherwise just gives rise to an infinite regress
