A loving father, but any god responsible for this is an absolute bustard[typo].

Thanks Andy, and Pixie- I respect your views, and don't know the answers to life, any more than either of you. All I do know is that when things get so bad in life that you can't see anything at all in a positive light, someone else comes along, with circumstances a hundred times worse than mine, smiling, happy, bright-eyed, blessed. These people are the ones that show us how life can be lived. It doesn't mean we aren't always going to experience tragedies, times in life when we are going to feel bitter towards God, or just sheer depression at the realities of life. But it does mean that, however low things have got, there is still hope. That, for me, is the essence of what God is. But don't take my word for it- look around, the examples are everywhere.
There are no examples, spungle. I pretty much agree with everything you say, until you bring God into it.
We are all different and accepting that instead of railing against it is the first step to simply getting along.

It doesn't matter if my neighbour doesn't believe and it shouldn't matter to them that I do.

Thanks for the videos Spungle.
It doesn't matter... until people try to project it to others as "truth" or expect others to change behaviour, due to their beliefs.
Not everyone can keep it quietly to themselves.
Thanks Pix- I think it was the original poster who brought God into it, but anyways...! When I see goodness, truth, overcoming adversity, hope, life, light, forgiveness, joy, encouragement, satisfaction- I see God. But that's just me- and I am not arrogant enough to say that I am right and you're wrong- I can only make any sense of the world, the physical and the spiritual, through my own experience. I would love to see the young lad in Syria go on to live a wholesome and fulfilling life, and that he turns to people like Jesse and Nick for inspiration.
Well said, spungle... I have no doubt that religion helps some individuals. Praying is just a form of meditation. And that can be very beneficial.
I would never preach or try turn anyone's mind, interestingly the OP did and scarpered.

I see squabbles on here regularly and it saddens me.
Thanks Mamy- Chris is another inspiration.
Mamya, difference of opinion is usually healthy, in my view. As long as it doesn't descend...
Just out of interest, I looked after a family once, who were "strict Christians". Totally lovely and down to earth... but they never said, and I didn't directly ask... what brand they were.
Apparently, not Amish. But- no technology, Internet etc, no make-up or hair cuts for women. Head scarfs in public, and for the men, suits on Sundays and church.
Any ideas?
Also, long skirts or dresses only, for females.
Quakers??
Ta Spungle, have come across Chris before - makes one stop and think doesn't it?
Honestly, don't know, mamya. Thanks for the suggestion, will have a look x
Oh, no tobacco or alcohol allowed.

I deny the charge. And I apologise for "scarpering" but I've actually got a life away from AB.
So have we all, at least now with the story behind the photograph (which is moving in any way you care to mention) you can see that the cruelty of mankind caused the injuries here.

Perhaps we could extrapolate from that that God's greatest error was to place us in charge.
Mamy, Quakers aren't ike the eighteenth century characters in cowboy
films. Some of them are not even proper christians. :-)
((Perhaps we could extrapolate from that that God's greatest error was to place us in charge.)

What the Bible says: ''It does not beling to man who is walking even to direct his step'' Jeremiah 10:23.
Sorry, that was a typo shoud read belong.
Pixie, those people were possibly Plymouth Brethren.
