Do difficult times draw you closer to God or repel you from Him?
People respond to tragedy in different ways, some turn to God and find some solace in Him, others are so angry or hurt they turn away from God.
I was thinking the other day perhaps this is it. Perhaps pubs and restaurants will never re-open. What if we are never allowed to travel abroad again?
I wouldn't mourn the demise of Weatherspoons but never being able to travel again would be very hard to take. Would it affect my faith? I would hope not

Fiveleaves; why would the loss of easy travel cause you to disbelieve in God? Jesus didn't travel much.
And Jesus enjoyed a drink. He turned water into wine and his blood into wine. He might have been a 'Spoons regular.
Do difficult times move me closer to God or repel me from him?

Neither - for obvious reasons.
well lately since I got my Firestick and am able to go into many sad incidences re the Catholic church, Mother and Baby Tuam, baby trafficking to everywhere, abuse of the children in orphanages by the clergy and cover-ups - I'm actually afraid to be sad to be called a Catholic - I think I will stick to being Christian.

And others don't give him a first thought never mind a second. They take responsibility for themselves and deal with life.
just imagine

ere mate you aint going into the centre - no you most definitely are NOT! - not an emergency so just amble back to Galilee!

emergency, save the world I have heard it all - no mate, back!

just a thought
But I want to testify that trusting God in difficult times (even finding joy through trials!) is possible for any of us.

I know because my husband and I have had to trust God through hard times on several occasions:

chronic illness in marriage,
scary health issues with our kids,
intense parenting battles,
miscarriage, and so many more.
And today, I want to teach you the practical insights I've learned so that you can stay strong during this trial and trust God despite the difficulties!

I want to show you that yes, it is possible to have HOPE and JOY when you're trusting God through a difficult time.
Hassanali179, //I want to show you that yes, it is possible to have HOPE and JOY when you're trusting God through a difficult time. //

Why do you think anyone here would your guidance?

Correction^. *would 'want' your*
n. //Why do you think anyone here would [want] your guidance?//

Hassanali isn't offering guidance as I read it. Can you re-state what you are trying to say please?
See his last paragraph. He wants to 'show us'. How do you read that, Khandro?
Lots of people have taken up new hobbies during this pandemic and religion is certainly a potential with the benefit being very little cost, but can be confusing to the newcomer though as there are so many different flavours to choose from and they all claim to be the best one, a bit like the washing powders. Not really for me though, I've taken up computer programming and gardening when the weather gets a bit better.
I get closer to God during difficulties.
My Rock, my Saviour, Hashem.
n. I see what you mean, though showing isn't the same as guiding.
Best you pay attention then, Khandro, but the wording is familiar and leads me to suspect you won't like what you hear.
^^^^^^^^
Eagle eyed, Nailit! :-))
Thanks, Nailit.

Fiveleaves, your question (such as it is) isn't relevant to many people, but you probably knew that...

And ?
Khandro, shows that he's not thinking, just copying and pasting what he reads in his favourite source? I don't think he's showing off, just relying on others who have already formulated ideas he agrees with.
