From reading some of these posts where minds are made up and support or otherwise of Islam is clearly immutable, you are not alone.

Ashura Day isn’t a threat to the west. Without going into detail about what it means to Sunni Muslims, the gatherings you’re talking about are basically annual events (often bloody ones with men self-flagellating) mourning the death in AD661 of Hussain ibn Ali who many regarded - and Shia Muslims still regard - as the rightful successor to the Prophet Mohammed. Ali was killed and the job went to his rival and that led to the separation of Islam into two factions - Shia and Sunni. Sadly 1500 years or so after the event, the two factions are still fighting about it - which says something about the inflexible mentality of Islam.

I wish more people would learn the basics of the Koran, and you have clearly done more than mere basics.
My, '' hysterical,'' attitude to islam is well founded given the murderous attitude of the few, and the tacit approval of the violence by many many more, and their constant push for more rights and protections of their ambitious plans to gain special status for their drive towards sharia.
This needs to be discussed much further, and I look forward to reading any posts that do so in a measured calm manner.

I've looked at several of the media this morning & last night's terrorist attack in Vienna is not the lead story on any, & in some it is mentioned only way down the page.

Covid & US elections, which we can do little to nothing about, seem to have far more importance than the continued slaughter & maiming of European citizens, which we can.
