Errors In Bible Translation King James.

Always knew there were a few translation errors, but the wisdom of the Bible remains constant.
If you read the Bible, which translation do you prefer?
I like King James.

It certainly is, Toorak. I can understand it perfectly when I hear it or read it, but I still find it difficult to speak it, I'm embarrassed to say. I grew up hearing Scots all around me but was never "allowed" to speak it myself because it was "the English" that you needed to get on. The usual story...

I've just been saying that 23rd Psalm out loud - very moving. Particularly so, as on Monday I'm going back to Scotland for the first time in 23 years. It's for a family funeral, and all things 'Scots' are very much on my mind at the moment.

True, Jewish copyists and the later Christian copyists were not infallible. Errors crept in, but the many copies that still exist help us to trace these errors. How? Well, different copyists made different errors. Hence, by comparing the work of different copyists, we can identify many of their mistakes.

Miraculously, despite the passing of many turbulent centuries and much copying and recopying, we can be confident that the Bible still contains the information found in those ancient original manuscripts. Hence, this Scriptural statement has proved true (1 Peter 1:24, 25).

as the words change their meaning - ( wolf stop reading here - some very difficult ideas follow)
leaving aside whether Tyndale imposed his reformation views on his translations - ekklesia being congregation and not church

pais - my son is commonly used toward a slave in AD 30
tecknon is the word used for child

ancilla - nurse used for a nanny bringing up a child

but I agree that the KJV has a grandeur .....

errors in themselves are pretty uncommon
I think of the papyri of the NT - first say 200 y - there are under 100 discordances and none important

that is - there are no errors where instead of the Last Supper - the copy says he went down to the local McDOnalds

or that he didnt change water into wine but high octane rocket fuel ....

that doesnt mean they werent rewritten and modified to take into account various prophecies - three kings for example

One such error is, "Taking the Lords name in vain."
The original Hebrew says, " Carry the Lords name in vain."
So those who claim to do their evil in the name of the Lord, like ISIS, are condemned.
