With respect, why do atheists spend so much time and energy on Religion & Sprituality?
This is as ridiculous as me being on gardening, football, or cooking.
Good for those who are, but wasted on me.

Do you not have any interests apart from Christianity, Theland?
Not into gardening, football or cooking then?
This is a Q&A site....it's all about opinions.

Tilly - I love to watch a good game of football, but don't support any team.
I do cook, just the basics, keeps me going, but gardening? Just ask sons to cut grass.
But the point is, I don't post about any of it.
Why would you assume that atheists have no interest in the beliefs and culture of other people? That shows a severe lack of understanding of other people. Most people have a wide range of interests...

Tilly - I used to do acrylic painting.
Good enough for my daughter to hang on her wall, and one son to give as a gift to his friend. Must have been half decent.
The religious myths and allegories are interesting. That's sufficient reason in itself, isn't it, Theland?

Also religious belief has had and is having a profound influence on human affairs - for better and for worse. That's interesting too.
But other people do. Someone posts about food and people could come back with 'that sounds naff'

Same with religion.

I can't believe people eat tripe!!
Question Author
Malloy good point. But why not appreciate another's belief instead of trying to shoot it down in flames?
Question Author
Vetuste - Fair enough.
But it is never accepted is it, that I have my belief, but needs be attacked for it.
//Tilly - I used to do acrylic painting. //

A well-known poster recently had an exhibition is Strasbourg (just round the corner from the ECHR I believe). Acrylic is one of his favoured mediums. If you ask him nicely he may even give us a link to some examples of his work.

As an Agnostic I have no idea.
//But it is never accepted is it, that I have my belief, but needs be attacked for it//

Attacking the belief is not the same as attacking the believer, Theland.
The history of religion, the myth surrounding it, its influence upon society, and the psychology involved interests me. I spend even more time and energy on the subject outside AnswerBank.

You can believe what you like Theland, but when you continually warn people of impending doom, implore them to believe you, and tell them that death will bring judgement upon them, they have every right to challenge you. You are not a victim. You reap what you sow…. as ‘they’ say.

Tilly, that well-known poster's work puts my efforts to shame. He's very good.
Without questioning and getting explanations from people in all sorts of areas we do not increase our knowledge and understanding.....if people push it because they are generally not understanding...and to be fair Theland I am not going to spend hours listening to videos ... I do frequently listen and question one of my neighbours who is a Jehovahs witness ( among other people with different ) and have been to services and meetings...I don't believe but love finding out how others do.

Naomi, I have never been guilty of preaching such rubbish.
My opinions mean nothing.
Where does that come from?
knickers...other people with different beliefs.......can't type tonight!
I think it is because we are fascinated that grown up intelligent people could believe in fairy stories.
Theland, it comes from you. Read your posts.

v_e, I take it you didn't get there either.
