Ok. Everyone is entitled to a viewpoint.
Yes, everyone is entitled to a viewpoint, but some earn the right to have their viewpoint taken more seriously than others.
Maybe in their field of expertise.
Be funny if he's in heaven looking down now :-)
He will have a shock that's for sure ...

He won't be in a wheelchair any more, he'll be whole (smile).

Mibs, don't me started in the religious section on things that are alleged to have happened in space! That path leads to heavens knows what – but at the least a sound zapping!!

Interestingly, Richard Dawkins was, on these very pages, castigated for saying that life arose as a result of a happy accident. I wonder what the ‘castigator’ makes of Hawkin’s claim that human life is accidental?
Surely if it’s not accidental, that implies some sort of plan?
Hawkings philosophical and theological views are as valuable as, in Tommy Coopers joke, finding a Stradivarious and a Picasso.
But Stradivarious couldn't paint and Picasso made lousy violins.
Hawking claimed that as long as there was gravity, the universe would create itself.
But Gravity is the bending of space time, both of which were created in the Big Bang. Gravity is a property of the universe, and outside of the universe, does not exist. He was presumptuous and like the ancient gods, assumed they made the universe out of pre existing SOMETHING. turtle shells and fairy dust etc.
Modern atheist scientists also do the same thing, like Lawrence Krausse, who asserts a pre existing void seething with zero point energy and virtual particles.
Oh my word!
Hawking was a giant in his field, and did so much to explain the workings of THIS universe, but did not have a clue about its origins.
The more we learn about the means and process by which an alleged god supposedly 'commanded the universe into existence' the more we discover no god was needed at all. It's a common and excusable error for those who have not yet grasped the fact that intelligence is an emergent, evolving (and in some cases more than others) highly developed faculty that exists only by virtue of the universe from which it arose. Not everyone it seems share this capacity while others apparently refuse to use it.
From the universe from which it arose?
So it created itself then?
Exasperated!
Nice clever side swipe though.
Gold star in your exercise book.
//So it created itself then? //

That is no harder to believe than the existence of a god.
Im not suggesting the universe was 'created' at all. That's your presumption . . . although not necessarily your first mistake.
I am sure that by now he must have found about a lot more things one way or another.
