Islam - The Price Of Apostasy

Simple question. To all those who genuinely believe that Islam is a religion of peace, can anyone tell me of another faith that prescribes the death penalty to those who leave it?

The only other “religion” that I can think of today that seeks to destroy either physically or economically its apostates is Scientology. But of course, Scientology is a dangerous brainwashing cult and therefore bears no resemblance whatsoever to Islam.

I remember the fatwa against the infamous apostate Rushdie issued by Khomeini, and the following spats of rage and intolerance (including book-burning in Bradford physically witnessed by one AB poster) by some of our newer fellow citizens.

To keep heartening back to Deuteronomy is to miss the point of a nation being formed and in its infancy and the necessity of purification for their future role as a light for the world. Nit picking is easy. Why do it?
