All of us experience problems that can bring unhappiness. When we do, we may look for advice from a trusted relative or friend, or use the library or the Internet.

I seldom need to go further than God's word in print, the Holy Bible.
i use the internet but it doesnt always give you the right answer... at the end of the day you have to do whats right for you and as we are all different one lot of good advice could be the wrong advice...we all learn from our mistakes so we make sure we dont do the same thing again...
Anything or anybody willing and able to address my issue in the here and now without reference to a higher power.
Looking at your profile, sandyRoe, it strikes me that you probably turn to AB for advice more often than "God's word in print".
I turn to AB to while away the long tedious hours. BUt for spiritual guidance, the Good Book, and particularly the Decalogue, is all that anyone needs.
I understand the Citizens Advice Bureau and Trading Standards are usually very helpful.
A good dose of " The Simpsons" usually works - you can find at least one episode that will cover virtually every problem that ever crops up.

Failing that, watch an episode of Eastenders, to remind oneself that, no matter how bad things appear, they cannot be as bad as the doom and gloom shown in that show!

Other than that - family, friends. If its more legal or financial, Citizens Advice Bureau are pretty good.

sandy you are a complete star!
Life is full of problems, people say. You may agree?.

Yes Sandy , the Bible contains a host of principles and guidelines that can be applied beneficially in whatever circumstance you might find yourself. Through it God says to us: “This is the way. Walk in it, you people."

I have to agree Naomi, I have used the CAB in the past.

Goodlife@//Life is full of problems, people say. You may agree?. //

Yes, I agree with you.
The Bible tells us: “Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that excels all thought will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6, 7)

Yes, the Bible is a practical guide in at least two ways. First, it offers a realistic view of what constitutes a better way of life. Secondly, it has the power to motivate people to make the necessary changes to attain that better way of life.
The Ladybird Book of God.. how about that?

or The Big Boys Bumper Book of Bible Stories?

any good?
[i] Chinese proverb: [i]
A wise man is not one who knows much, but one who knows where to find his information.
Sources of information are everywhere, and no one source can dispense all the information that an individual can want or need.
If you need a listening ear, Samaritans are there for you 24/7, 365 days per year. You don't have to be suicidal to contact them - they are used to dealing with everything under the sun and will always have time for you.
I found the resource of my own experience and perhaps medical advice to be more than adequate to turn any unhappiness around, and try to do the same for others. Anything that can not possibly be fixed should be accepted as a part of life, and not brooded over for years. Make the most of what you got, there is always someone worse off than you.
The Bible, ha ha - reminds me of when my old next door neighbour, a Gospel Pastor used to ask me to come and fix his laptop, I used to ask him if he had looked in the Bible for the answer because that was his answer to me for everything! Top bloke though, we used to have a right laugh.

Seriously though unhappiness is caused by YOU and nobody else, you choose how you let external events affect you - with anything you have 3 choices: (a) leave it (b) change it, or (c) accept it, if you don't do one if these 3 things you will be unhappy - the biggest cause of unhappiness is not accepting that you cannot leave or change certain things.
Truthabounds, //I have to agree Naomi, I have used the CAB in the past. //

Bet the bible didn't advise you to go there. ;o)
