boxtops @ Thank you, hope good for you.

The world hasn't stopped being created yet. As geological time appears to move very slowly, the shape of the worlds continents and oceans appears to be static. Earthquakes, subduction zones and volcanoes etc are proof that the process has not stopped. How does the bible explain this?
Naomi@
You are nit picking!
Does everything have to be down in black and white for you?
Or are you so blinkered you can't see beyond your nose.
Truthabounds, that's not nit-picking - it's telling it as it is. Despite your name, truth doesn't really abound with you, does it. ;o)
Naomi@ Is truth in you?
Truthabounds, sadly for you, yes.
You see atheism, learned about the survival of the fittest. But in one a medical courses, said we were taught that we should help the weak.” She also wondered why humans, who were supposed to be an evolutionary improvement over monkeys, suffered from emotional problems that did not afflict monkeys.

Goodlife, that last post makes no sense at all.

Anyway - our calendar ended last night and we are all still here, to witness and bright and shiny morning today - happy 2013 to all of you.
Goodlife, //She also wondered why humans, who were supposed to be an evolutionary improvement over monkeys, suffered from emotional problems that did not afflict monkeys.//

Monkeys aren't brainwashed with religion, or made to feel guilty for sins not committed, or told they're wicked and hence doomed. Maybe that's the answer.
Whatever happens, cockroaches will survive.
... and axolotls.
//Monkeys aren't brainwashed with religion, or made to feel guilty for sins not committed, or told they're wicked and hence doomed. Maybe that's the answer//
Well you said It!
boxtops @ Thank you, hope good for you.
Goodlife, what are you talking about? I know I said it.
boxtops Sorry, getting ahead of myself should have read:
Hope 2013 goes well for you.
Naomi@
//Of course creation took considerably longer than 7000 years. We know that! There is no actual time period mentioned in the Genesis account. //
// Yes there is – 6 days//

I know it mentions 6 days! I was referring here to the fact that creation took longer than 7000 years and that no actual time period is mentioned. One creative day could be as long as 1000 years. Not a 24 hour day as we know it. The word “day” in the Bible is used with several different meanings, even as it has a variety of applications in modern times.

This is where understanding and discernment come into play. Reading the context plays a part here.
Truthabounds, //This is where understanding and discernment come into play. Reading the context plays a part here.//

…. conveniently. Once again, the supposedly infallible bible doesn’t mean what it says – and before you jump to the New Testament to ‘prove’ your point, the author of that bit knew no more than anyone else, including you, about a perceived creator. You can’t have it both ways. Either the book is right or it’s not. Actually, I don’t know why you don’t believe it was all done in 6 days. Is your God not capable of that – or has the undeniable evidence for evolution cast doubt in your mind?
Naomi Let us see why. First is knowledge. It comes from God.

In the garden of Eden, the original home of mankind, God planted among other trees “the tree of the knowledge of good and bad.” From this tree God commanded the first man Adam not to eat if he wanted to avoid dying. (Gen. 2:9, 15-17) The book of Proverbs, as well as all the rest of the Bible, impressively shows us that Almighty God Jehovah was well able to give Adam the knowledge of good and bad in God’s own time without Adam’s having to disobey God and eat from the forbidden tree of the knowledge of good and bad.

In disobeying God Adam fell away from his Creator and so missed out on knowledge, for, as( Proverbs 1:7) says. The same with you.
Again is a verse that even a child can understand.
Goodlife, oh dear, what are we to do with you? Placing your confidence in a hopeless God who couldn’t even find Adam in the Garden of Eden. Not much of a guide for life is he? Maybe he should have joined Adam for supper. ;o)
