It is an absurd sentence to pass. Such sentencing as this, and other examples of excessive responses to insult that we have seen over the years make it all the more difficult for the faithful to claim that Islam is the religion of peace.

Be fair. If they go to Egypt they are promised a new trial and then the death penalty. Better than executing them as soon as they set foot there! This kind of nonsense is for local consumption but doesn't do much for the image of Islam.

People may or may not be in favour of capital punishment but I think most would agree it's a bit harsh for publishing, even for our own press! So I must admit to being a little surprised at jno's loaded question.
