Baptized in the Name of Whom and What?

Today, millions of people from various backgrounds have learned from the Bible the truth about Jehovah. (Isa. 2:2, 3) Some were atheists or deists, but they became convinced of the existence of a Creator.

Others worshipped a triune god or various idols. Before they learned that Jehovah alone is the almighty God, and they now address him by his personal name. That is in line with the fact that Jesus said his disciples should be baptized in the name of the Father.

Birdie , Goodlife takes the view that the Bible is a work which is inspired by God , and he qoutes various parts of it and makes various points . I see nothing wrong with that .
What exactly do you want me to do Birdie - do you want me to denounce Goodlife because he hasn't answered my every point in exactly the way that I wanted ? Goodlife isn't on trial here...

Theland - “... What kind of bird are you? A "Lesser Mannered Post Griebler," or just a, "Common Twerp?"... I shall pray that the Good Lord in His infinite wisdom, deigns to bless you with the gift of patience and tolerance...”

Is that what you are displaying now? Patience and tolerance?

Your above post is a lamentable display your own intolerance and ignorance. I levelled a perfectly reasonable criticism of Goodlife's post which was pointless and irrelevant in the context of this thread. Your response is to call me stupid and childish names.

Do you really think that your post is an appropriate response to my comment to Goodlife?
Theland - “... God has let it be known to me that He has delivered unto you a mild punishment as a warning... Go and check your bank account, and beware your next leccy bill...”

Please explain the above. I am at a loss as to how to interpret it.
Goodlife - “... People you know or whose identity you can verify. Unsavory individuals regularly troll the Internet looking to exploit people names. Actually, though, the trolls are believed to be jealous people who take mischievous delight in bringing misfortune to prosperous people...”

Am I right in assuming that your rather garbled post above is an attempt define an internet 'troll' and distance yourself from that label? It certainly looks like it to me. One problem though – your definition is completely incorrect. This is the definition of an internet 'troll':

'… someone who posts inflammatory, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response...”

Which is precisely what you have done in this thread (and others). Your posts are very often off-topic and irrelevant to the discussion being had. Sadder still is the fact that other posters such as 'Theland' are quick to support you in your 'tolling' and instead of addressing the issues at hand, they post similarly irrelevant posts personally attacking people such as myself for pointing out the irrelevance of said posts.
Well that's good news. Millions of people have read a book and been persuaded that a claim by the author that he speaks for God must be true because he says so. I reckon the book could be a best seller; people like books that don't require them to think much, but just accept what's written. Thie author of Isaiah could be the next big thing in publishing. Good news for the book trade. Does the man's agent have other writers of this sort of stuff? If he has, we could have a whole lot of books on this theme.

Yes,Inflammatory statements may appear in print, casting us in a bad light.

Proverbs 14:15 states-- “A simple man believes every word he hears; a clever man understands the need for proof.”
An even more clever man is able to recognise proof.
Jolly good.
Never knew there was a bible quotation that undermined the whole edifice of religion, Thanks, goodlife. Encouraged by that, some of us will continue to demand proof. So far, we have managed proof beyond the obvious doubt that self-serving writings can be admissible as evidence or proof of their own assertions , and have progressed, with science and advancing knowledge, to a better understanding of the world and the human mind.
Question Author
Yes, the breakdown in human values was foretold that the last days would be marked by extraordinary upheavals, today: ‘Men will have a form of godly devotion but prove false to its power.’ (2 Timothy 3:2, 5)

No other period in history has been characterized by such powerful and thorough secularization. God has been widely rejected as the only authority, and most people do not accept the Bible as the only source of truth. Of course, religions still exist, but many have little influence.
They are only a veneer.
goodlife. Like sixty generations before you, you will die waiting for your god to appear.

The decline in religion is a sign of a rise in secular thinking.
Question Author
At least I have something to wait for.
Goodlife, Yes - you're waiting to die.
goodlife: Your religion is nothing more than a cargo cult.

You spend your life performing rituals to help confirm your faith that god will come one day and grant you a wonderful eternal life.
Theland - “... God has let it be known to me that He has delivered unto you a mild punishment as a warning... Go and check your bank account, and beware your next leccy bill...”

That is probably the funniest post I have ever read. Anywhere!

Are we really meant to believe your stultifyingly arrogant post that you are some sort of visionary seer and an omnipotent being took time to reveal to you that he/she has defrauded another posters' bank account and then taken time off from creating things/saving worlds to adjust said poster's electricity bill?
Duncer, Theland is a God-fearing man - very much so - but the old devil also has a wicked sense of humour - and I mean wicked in the nicest way. :o)
Question Author
Yes,God knows the mind of man. He knows that if a man does not train his mind to think correctly, he will be unhappy.
Really? That is good news. I'm happy, so I must have got it right. :o)))
It is obvious that (sense of humour not withstanding) theland has taken the first steps on the slippery slopes of duplicity and will soon slide headlong into the marinade of perdition on his way to a gentle toasting on satan's metaphorical spit. mmmm yummy
Haaa! I imagine Theland will chuckle at that.
