Zabadak, who stomped all over it in capital letters? You say it was 'someone not a million miles away'. Since my name is attached to the preceding post, I would like to clarify this because I don't believe I've ever written anything like that in capital letters and I wouldn't like anyone to get the wrong idea. I presume this is the thread you're talking about. I've had a quick skim through, but I can't see it.

Naomi - it was indeed you, and the moment was burned into my brain, as I was sort of enjoying the debate up to that point. It really was a critical moment for me in my participation in this section of AB. It is possible my memory is flawed on the capital letters, but I don't think so: maybe it was removed. However, like so many things, I can't back it up with hard evidence, so I apologise unreservedly for the attribution.

Hi, Zabadak, If god decided to trap the miners underground, then he also allowed them to escape? to what purpose other than a mysterious one? Why does god get credited with all the good stuff that happens and none of the bad? it doesn't make sense. It is circular reasoning. (God does good things, something good has happened, that proves the existence of god).

Yes, I did say your God did zilch – and it’s true – because as I also said, although I don't doubt that the miners’ prayers made them feel better the fact remains that had they relied upon God to save them, rather than the courageous men upon whom the credit for the rescue should be bestowed, the miners would have been dead – and they would.
As for my ‘totally silly statement ‘, is it really silly? If you do, indeed, understand an unknown almighty creator God, you are the only person on this earth that does, and I would be very interested indeed in learning more from you.
This is the second time in as many days that I have been misquoted, and actually, I would like to say that I think the non-believers around here cope admirably with the unjustifiable charges laid against them and with the insults they receive. They don’t succumb to petulant attacks of the vapours, or resort to the ‘report’ button, but stand their ground and argue their point – and when they are able to overlook comments like this…..

Funnily enough, I spoke to the author of that delightful gem only yesterday, but if you feel you cannot contribute to R&S because you are unable to move on from opposing arguments that haven’t suited your sensibilities, then of course that can only be your choice.

I'd love to stay and chat, but I'm off to indulge my fantasies, burn some witches, suppress a few women, persecute a gay or two, propagate some lies, plan a bit of genocide, wipe out any unbelievers I can lay hands on, and generally behave as Christians are supposed to. Well, yes, obviously, it's better, for me at least. But probably not for you, and I'll lay long odds that you won't find anything anywhere in anything I've written around here that claims that, in a play-off between different world views, mine would come off empirically the best. You have arrived where you are in your thinking, and until tomorrow at least, and possibly for a lot longer, you're going to be reasonably happy with that. I doubt you'll be saying to anyone soon wow! your belief system is so much better than mine! These things take ages to evolve, and change, sometimes dramatically but usually at glacial speeds, during any thoughtful person's lifetime. Mine works for me for now, though I expect it to develop and grow. Your's presumably works for you: I have emphatically not introduced the comparative factor.
