Sith, in order to take the words of a muslim scholar seriously enough to listen to them you first of all have to have some reason to believe that he is better than and has a greater understanding of the koran than any of the many thousands of other muslim scholars. Then you have to believe that the koran was not made up by mohammed. The next requirement is to believe in the existence of god. Since I have no reason to believe that a god of any kind exists I excuse myself from listening to or reading any religious tracts. I don't doubt your esteemed scholars sincerity, I just think he is misguided.
Jom, got to disagree with you there. Personally, I feel that if I don't read it, or watch it, I am not qualified to comment on it.
Hi Naomi, That is why I don't comment on the Koran, I comment about it as a phenomenom. That is all.
Ah, I see. :o)
ok naomi. watch it than. Which way would i prefer you to go about debating? like an adult without referring to sarcastic comment and wit when there is clearly no need to put any.

//"Where are Islam’s great scholars and men of science?" you give me a list of scholars of Islam rather than Islamic scholars - and one doctor. In that instance, I rest my case. //

naomi, you are one of the most confusing people i have met. What is the difference between a scholar of islam and an islamic scholar?
yes. To answer your question jom. He is good as whenever someone asks him a question he can always answer it like that leaving the person speechless.

look, if anyone wants to watch it im putting up a few links:

lol, if u want more i can give more :)
Sith, I told you if my style doesn’t suit you, don’t talk to me, but I’ll answer your question.

A scholar of Islam studies only ‘Islam’ – and you could transpose ‘scholar of Islam’ for ‘scholar of Christianity’, or Judaism, or mathematics, or botany, or whatever subject the scholar has chosen to study.

An Islamic scholar is a Muslim who studies whatever subjects take his fancy, and you could transpose 'Islamic' for Christian, Jewish, British, mature, or anything else that describes the scholar personally.

I’ve seen those videos before. I didn’t realise you were talking about him. Not impressed.
youve seen them but you didnt know it was him??? if youve seen them you must know his name?

why arent you impresses? because it does not agree with your views?
Sith, You said…

// He is good as whenever someone asks him a question he can always answer it like that leaving the person speechless.//

… but you see, he doesn’t have quite the same effect on me because although I’ve listened to him, I’ve concluded that his claims are erroneous and therefore his opinions aren’t important to me – and neither is his name. If it’s any consolation, for the same reasons, I don’t remember the names of most of the preachers on the God channel either.
Sith, lots of people leave me speechless but they don't necessarily impress me.
but jom, trust me. if someone managed to leave you or naomi speechless that would be a big thing. I mean, ok, that may not nessesarily mean he is right but if you cannot say anything back than that shows you have nothing else to say, as hes answered your questions. So in that case he has won. (winning isnt the right word but i cannot thing of another)
Sith, I can’t be bothered to dissect this man’s relentless and ill-informed diatribe in great detail for you, but suffice to say Sir Francis Drake did not discover that the earth is spherical, as he claims. The Greeks were aware of that long before the Koran was written. Your book contains no ground-breaking science - in fact much of it is demonstrably false.
I don't think he, Drake, even finished his circumnavigation. Isn't he sleeping with the fishes in Nombre Dios Bay?
Sith, the only thing that would leave me speechless would be something idiotic beyond imagining.
:) leave it there naomi. all knowing, all wise ;)
Sith, why the sarcasm? You wanted to know where your man was wrong, you asked why he doesn’t impress me, and you pushed for an answer. You have one.

Sandy, Drake did circumnavigate the earth, but died on a subsequent journey.
sith - I've not joined this one for a while, but (naomi, forgive me if I'm wrong) a person can be speechless not because someone's answered all your questions, but because they are dumbfounded at the proposals being put forward by a speaker. Sometimes someone is silent because the content of a speech is just so ill-informed or far from fact (although the speaker believes it) that the audience just doesn't know where to start, in order to challenge it. It's not only Islam, I'd say the same about American fundamentalist Christianity (for example) - many of those who speak see only their narrow (and often ill-informed) view of the world.
