after being in France and Germany and italy this year i dont see any of the unpleasant, rude, crass, aggressive behaviour i have encounteredfrom people you get here. Ok, not everyone is perfect on the continent but where did this culture of swearing, not-give-a -damn about anyone else come from. I just feel like locking myself in my house every evening and not going out - the streets are full of pucking, drunk nut cases evey weekend too - not civilised adults enjoying a few drinks and chat. I'm off.

By the way. For fear of upsetting anyone else i dont think this is the majority but is definately someone prevalent in our society and therefore well worth discussing.

It's the world that's going down the drain.
We need a new planet!
There is a lot of boorishness about. I too notice it more when I return from abroad. There are three possibilities.

1. You go to the nice bits of the country you are visiting, and they too have knobs, but you do not see them in the bits you see.

or

2. You live somewhere in the UK which is exceptionally boorish, and you need to move to somewhere nice.

or

3. Everyone in the UK is awful.
apologies Jordielaz. didn't realise this was not Chatterbank. forgive me. good on you for pulling me up Theland. :-)
lajohn - I knew it was totally out of character.
Have a lollipop!
I am puzzled. Do people really give different flavoured answers depending on the section they are in? e.g. do people tell fibs in Chatterbank just because it is Chatterbank? Shame on anybody who does this. Be truthful and helpful at all times.

I am truthful and helpful all the time.

I am not giving you hand with thisyou.

I have just been on the Mars.
My wife and I travelled on a Bus at the end of the school-day recently. The kids were between 16 and 18 years of age. Everybody was friendly, the atmosphere relaxed and there was no hint of unpleasantness. We enjoyed the experience. We were in Gent in Belgium.
F**U* DA oh Sh*t

sorry wrong section should be in CB
If u want civility and submission to authoritarians you're in the wrong country. Try Iran, Arab emirates, some African states, China, Russia, S. America, India & Pakistan, some middle east lands to name but a few. Go man, go
Today a policeman asked a 15yr old girl to pick up litter she droped, she did, then droped it on the floor again right infront of him. This esculated into a full scale riot with the 2 policemen being taken to hospital (was on national news) but how discusting that she can drop litter in the first place, more discusting that she drops it again in spite. Even more discusting that she does this blatently to a police man. NO self respect or respect for anyone else. May be the problem.
Interesting point raised there by whiffey. I never notice what category a question is in. If there's something in the recent posts box that interests me and I think I can contribute ,then I jump in. (sorry to go off topic jordielaz .
you are bound to have a pleasant experience if you visit the touristy area's, not to mention a short stay will not give you a complete picture of the country as a whole
I travel widely - and, unlike some here, my eyes are wide open and I'm not in denial. If we're talking scumbags, this country is the pits.
