They've all moved to the other side of the hill, where the society is polyandrous.
I'm no expert on demographics, but I believe the the world population of women exceeds that of men, so there will always be a surfeit of women.

If you think about some species of animal (and we are animals, whether you like it or not), you'll often find one male with a group of females, and 'single' males are rarely so for long.
