It is weather dependent, but a trip to the Lake District would be romantic and not necessarily expensive - whereas a trip to Blackpool would be expensive and, er, not romantic.
Wild passion springs to mind!
Hmmm, northwest. As its a rare day off together, why not make the most of it and go have some proper fun. take her bowling, have a few drinks, then to the cinema to watch a soppy film, and have a few more drinks, and then after that, take her home as she will be in the mood for anything...
Both Manchester and Liverpool have big wheels and European markets on this weekend. Go for a ride on the wheel, have a stroll round the market stalls (there's loads of them in Albert Square Manchester) and have a german sausage for dinner.

champagne or nice bubbly wine, chocolates, move the dvd player into the bed room scented candles, sloppy movies....lovely you dont need to spend money
I'm in Manchester and the Christmas Markets are great, as said above there's the Big Wheel and they have a temporary iceskating rink in picadilly gardens too.

They are all kinds of lovely places to eat here too although you can't beat a bratwurst, potatoes, gluwein and pancakes from the Christmas Markets..mmmm
