Get the cheesewire out.

Good idea but it wont happen. The human rights lawyers will be all over it. Having said that, it has been known that some offenders have asked to be castrated but of course they were refused for some strange reason.

Are you suggesting forced castration? As it is already in use in GB.

I don't agree with this for all rapists. Many rapists don't rape because they have an urge for sex.

They are driven by hatred, a need for power.

They want to terrify, debase, overpower, hurt their victim. If they can't use their sexual organ they will use another body part, a tool or weapon.

Being chemically castrated could provoke them to be more angry, more vicious and carry out even more horrendous attacks.

These creatures should not be released.

A stupid idea floated just trying to make Labour seem tough. It'll never happen.

Sex offenders are not all male for a start.  How do we solve the problem of female sex offenders?

Where and when is forced castration used in GB, DDIL?

maggie, women can be chemically 'castrated' too.

13:13 gawd elp us!

Never heard of that Barry - every day's a school day.  This subject was raised on AB by emmie back in 2017.

Sorry I should have left a line between my last comments

I was asking if the OP was talking about forced castration as castration is already used in GB (not forced castration)

Is that clearer?

TTT, I don't know why you want God to help you.  Chemical castration is just a cocktail of hormones and other drugs.  They can be tailored to have the same effect on women.

Thanks, DDIL.

13:22 I was just amazed the anyone could say something so silly!

Why is it silly TTT?  Think Barry has given a very good explanation. Unless you know better of course.

I agree with Barry at 12.59

Rapes aren't about libido. Paedophilia isn't about libido. Giving these men (and possibly a few women) hormones won't stop them hurting women and children.

It's a commonly used phrase, TTT, even in relation to women.

"In women, chemical castration acts by decreasing testosterone levels in order to lower their sex drive, side effects include the deflation of breast glands, expansion of the size of the nipple and shrinking of bone mass."

barry explain that to maggie not me. I am fully aware of that.

For paedophiles a brain re-wire would be more appropriate.  Sick minds are the problem.

Whist seeming to be a good idea initially, I think it overrides the principle of no forced medication or surgery, and is the (not so) thin edge of the edge regarding an individual's rights.  If the culprit hasn't agreed to it then I don't think we want this society to become more dystopian then it is.
