This is an absolute horror story and yet according to the report there is little from a legal point of view, to stop people like Mr Sawyer from practising.

A lot of  healthcare needs more regulation. Counsellingis another area where anyone can practice it. It is mostly left to clients to check the reputations / qualifications and whether he practitioner has signed up to any kind regulatory body.

I imagine cost is factor too, as a lot of people go to Turkey or Brazil for this treatment and I've read similar horror stories about that.

The law needs to change to stop any Tom, Dick and Mary doing these procedures.

Womens attitudes need to change to. Nobody needs these procedures - nine times out of ten they look ridiculous afterwards.

I agree, Barry - and they all end up looking the same anyway.

"whose celebrity client list includes Katie Price,"

Well that should be the show stopper right there!

I have to say I am surprised they are not more regulated given the consequences not only to the individual but also the NHS that has to pick up the pieces (and pay).

> Our undercover filming captured Mr Sawyer handing out antibiotics without a valid prescription - a criminal offence. He is not qualified to prescribe and the pills were not labelled for a specific patient.

> He also offered to inject increasing doses of local anaesthetic without a prescriber present - again illegal - and did not ask for our reporter's weight, thus putting her at risk of an overdose.

Why isn't he prosecuted?

Very good question Ellipsis.

How does he get hold of the antibiotics?

A disgruntled customer may exact some form of retribution.

//Why isn't he prosecuted?//

Frm reading the aricle I'd say a mixture of him constantly moving areas and Police attitudes to the complaint.

/How does he get hold of the antibiotics?//

Online would be my guess.

High time there was a law regarding such procedures then. There has to be laws already about medical practices, presumably these should be modified/amended/extended to ensure this sort if things is clearly included. Meanwhile he has already broken laws hasn't he ?

Perhaps we should look at why people seem to want to pay money to make themselves uglier.

18:06. Quite right. You can do it free on AB.

There's nothing to stop any snake oil salesman AFAIK.

All the women in that article look as if they have had many previous procedures. I really do not understand why they choose to put themselves at so much risk. There must be many more charlatans out there. Why risk it? Is vanity such a stong quality?

These procedures invariably make them look worse, I just don't get it.

I don't understand it either
