Why Do Most People Drink Booze And Other Alcoholic Drinks?

On my island (Hayling Island) it happens, and also on the neighbouring island (Portsea Island), not to mention a bit further away (Isle of Wight).

People do it because they enjoy it and it's legal.

If you are talking about the UK, simply a cultural thing. If you go back a few centuries beer would have been the safest thing to drink.
Alcohol particular wine features in the Bible and is part of Judeo-Christian culture. In moderation it presents few problems

Go to an expat housing complex in Saudi Arabia and you will find they almost all have the same hobby - home brewing.
I had a strong G&T there. It tasted wonderful because it was illegal. It had that thrill similar to being served in a pub underage.

Know what you mean, Hoppy. I lost the thrill of Poítin a bit when it was legalised here. The bottle from the still in the mountain carried home past the Garda Station had the edge.

There are quite a few bars on the island of Ireland, Martin. We drink easily.... :-)

I dont know but I am not fond of the taste of Alcoholic drinks. I did bit my bullets and drunk bottles of beer once just to get drunk. Wine is OK but it still has the taste of Paracetamol, I dont know why...

I gave up drinking when I was 18, it was no fun once I was legally allowed to drink and get drunk in pubs.

That would have been in about 1981.
