Good Morning Early Birds
78 Answers
morning, Wednesday midweek already, i hope that you are all as well as can be and that your day is a pleasant one. Do you have anything planned for today? I have a food delivery at 9 or so to sort out, then will see what the weather does. The forecast for today in the capital is a high of 27c with partly sunny skies, that's more like it. Yesterday was lovely so i managed lunch out which was nice for a change.

I shouldn't be here but, as I knew that I wouldn't be able to get to sleep if I went to bed, I've been up all night.
So I've not got much planned for the day, other than finally heading up to bed after I've finished the beer I'm drinking. (That's not as bad as it might sound. I've not been drinking all night, honestly! It's only my second bottle).
I can't go far anyway, as I dropped my car off at the garage last night, so that the guy there can work out why the passenger footwell keeps filling with water. (I could probably live with that but the water gets into the electrics as well. So I get dashboard warnings, for example telling me that my non-existent front seat passenger isn't wearing their seat belt!).
I'm pleased to read that you got out for lunch yesterday, after you seemed to be trapped in your flat for so long.
"Here's to the ladies who lunch
Everybody laugh
Lounging in their caftans and planning a brunch
On their own behalf
Off to the gym, then to a fitting
Claiming they're fat
And looking grim 'cause they've been sitting
Choosing a hat"

Deliveries can be a pain in the posterior!
On Monday morning, I went to bed at 0245 but, as usual, I couldn't get to sleep. I finally started to doze off around 0815, only to be woken at 0830 by kids on their way to school going past my house. I still tried to go back to sleep, only to be woken again at 0900 by REALLY loud hammering on my front door. (I started wondering whether the police had decided to raid the wrong house or someone was trying to tell me that my house was on fire!). When I got downstairs though, I found that a parcel had been left outside the door by a courier who'd long since vanished. (To make it more annoying, the parcel contained nothing more than a blank car key that I'd ordered which, oddly, has been packed in a box so big that I could have used it for a dog kennel!)
So I really love couriers! (Grrr!)
(I still tried to get some sleep though, only to be woken at 0930 by the scrap metal totter who comes by every Monday morning, calling out "Any old scrap iron?" on a loudspeaker from his van, and then again at 1000 by a knock on my door from the guys who occasionally trim my front hedge for me).
Sleep? What's that then?

>>> that's Hyde Park i believe
Yup, I've just realised that you're closer to Regent's Park than to Hyde Park. I've also found out that the Regent's Bar & Kitchen there (which is run by the same company as the Serpentine Bar & Kitchen) isn't particularly expensive. [At one time almost all of the restaurants and cafes in London parks seemed to be really pricey]. They only charge £13.95 for fish and chips, which is a bit cheaper than what pubs around here typically charge. (£14.50 to £16.50 in most places).

>>> we all need sleep, for however long
My sleep patterns have always been odd. In my early twenties I had to force myself to go to bed for three hours on a Tuesday night, three hours on a Thursday night and four hours on a Sunday night. Even then, I still only slept for a bout a half of those ten hours.
These days I often sleep for 12 hours or more at a time but then go for 30 or 40 hours without sleeping at all. I just don't seem to have the built-in clock that most people have!

Fish & chips to take away can cost you £12 in Wales:

As I wrote above, £14.50 to £16.50 is the usual sort of pub price for fish and chips around here.

>>> I can't do this too often if i am going to continue doing the early bird thread
I sometimes find myself really tired around 8pm on a Friday, meaning that I really have to force myself to put up the weekly quiz thread and then monitor it for the next 5 hours (which is my usual practice). We both seem to have become slaves to this site!
