Anybody espousing, thinking of becoming, or continuing, with Communism - or indeed anyone under the age of 50, should I suggest, have a look at this;

most of the Labour party for a start!
The majority if people who champion it have never experienced it in action.
I don't imagine that anyone would think communism works, in real life.
Although... there have been experiments, in mostly Scandinavian countries, which shows that workers treated the best, work the best. So, someway, between capitalism and communism.....
You should imagine some do think it works in real life … because they do.
//...there have been experiments, in mostly Scandinavian countries, which shows that workers treated the best, work the best.//

Any capitalist who measures their success in terms of production should know that.
Before we go about criticising and trying to dismantle communist regimes maybe we should take note of the West's efforts to democratise the Middle East.

Despite some (obvious) abuses of power Cuba seems to work & China is successfully modernising.
What do you admire about the lifestyle of people in Cuba and China, dave?
Did I say I admire those countries? At least they are stable.

^^^^ Good question!
For many people in both countries life improved under Communism however they are hardly models now to aspire to.
Chine isn’t really Communist anyway. Pure communism was abolished a long time ago
While I’d never advocate it, it ought to be born in mind that in many cases the repression is down to other factors also: corruption and power and often National mentality. Ukraine shook off communism and is still corrupt but largely free.
Russia shook off communism but is still monumentally corrupt and the next best thing to totalitarian
Stable?

China

Hong Kong

Stable?
Question Author
Dave Have you any idea of what it is like living in Xi's China?
Roy - if you think the Hong Kong issue will destabilise China you are living in cloud cuckoo land.
ich //For many people in both countries life improved under Communism//
Really, scroll down to Cultural Life.

Well, you did say //Cuba seems to work & China is successfully modernising. // Dave. How you think Cuba 'works' is a mystery to me .... and as for China ...

If you think what the Chinese authorities are doing in Hong Kong can be in any way described as 'Stable' I have a seat for you on the next cloud.
dave, have you ever experienced Communism in action?
It's a pimple on an elephant's behind.

ichi ; //Ukraine shook off communism and is still corrupt but largely free.//

I don't know about the extent of the corruption there, but they don't have Gulags - which is more than can be said for Communist China
No I haven't lived under a communist regime & I don't know what life is like for the ordinary people of Russia, China or Cuba BUT I'm not going to rush in and say you MUST change & do things the way we do them because we have seen too often that that approach leads to anarchy, mayhem, bloodshed & a tidal wave of refugees!
