How would drug dealers operate? No black economy, everyone having to pay tax. Sounds good to me.

What happens when your card won't swipe?
tc, yes, the other day the till at Sainsbury's suddenly refused to accept either of my credit cards. Just a mechanical glitch, I suppose, but it was lucky I had cash.
Unless nobody has noticed, we are slowly being herded into the card method of paying whether we like it or not, but when the bank tec goes tits up, your left with nothing.
No.
No. Particularly when shops demand a minimum spend on the card before they will accept it.
@ 13.57, and that's becoming more widespread, simply to boost their sales, almost like blackmail.
How would it stop drug dealers? They would simply barter with (stolen) goods instead of cash (expensive watches, phones etc) The crime rate would go up.
No. I use cash daily.
What makes you think that drug dealers would declare money received by credit card payment to the taxman?

I’d be willing to bet that many drug dealers already accept Paypal and other forms of electronic transfer.
cash actually makes drug dealers’ lives harder, not easier. cashless payments would help dealers increase profits and make them safe, as they no longer have to deal on streets. The dark web is proof of this.
Don't think many of the younger generation have much idea about money and spending as they never see cash, they just swipe a card. They don't have to think about their spending until its all gone. Having cash in my hands did teach me some lessons on how to budget.
it wouldn't stop drug dealers in fact it would probably make it easier. They'll get swipe machines and money will go straight into dark web accounts. The best way to make sure every one pays their taxes is to abolish direct taxation altogether.
BAKERSDOZEN @14:15 "Having cash in my hands did teach me some lessons on how to budget."

I agree - going to an ATM, withdrawing cash and paying for things with cash makes me more conscious of what I spend.
No. "Big Brother" should keep it's nose out of individual citizens' business.
“@ 13.57, and that's becoming more widespread, simply to boost their sales, almost like blackmail.“

No it isn’t. It’s becoming less common
