That exactly describes a friend mine who has made the decision in the cold light of day that when she can no live with her cancer she will go to Switzerland and end it. She's middle-aged and still works when she's well enough which is most of the time except when she has to have some debilitating treatment. She's calm and determined this will happen when she's ready. I admire her.
I agree with it. No one has the right to decide that someone else should continue with life if they don't want to.
i must be the only dissenting voice, i don't agree with it, i value my life and don't wish to see the back end of dignitas.
emmie that is your choice....do you think that your choice should be inflicted on others?
It's also the law of the land. Do you think that your choice should be inflicted on others?
no spicerack I don't. I do think though that within a careful framework, people should be able to make their own choice and the law of the land should recognise this....oh and you don't know what my choice is/would be.
People can easily commit suicide without the help of others. It's only the severely disabled who might need help.

When my dad was dying he had enough morphine in the house to overdose if he so wanted.
When you make your mind up, woof, if I can be of any assistance...
What I want to do with my life is nobody else's damned business. Now aged 76, I mark it around 7/10 (pretty good compared with many), and am content to give up my space - preferably painlessly - although there are too many around these days who don't deserve it.
However, after seeing the film Me Before You and the idyllic setting of Dignitas in Switzerland, I Googled an image and was quite shocked.
it's up to the individual...
spicey, there is a queue :)
I'm against it. Spicerack made a very good point All the safeguards get eroded once the zealots get their foot in the door.
