A genuine question. I am not a racist, but feel the necessity to display my credentials.
My Sudanese daughter in law is now three days overdue with my ninth grandchild.
So to the heart of the question.
Western European culture has given the world football, cricket, rugby, great classical music, great art, plays, world dominating pop culture, fashion, democracy, inventions, scientific advancement etc etc etc to name but a tiny few.

So what has Africa contributed to human advancement?

We all speak English, and none of my family are jumping in boats and trying to get to Africa.
So what has Africa contributed to human advancement?
A British empire built on slavery!
Your grandchildren!
No we jumped in boats and went to Africa a few hundred years ago though Theland, enslaved it's people, stripped it dry of anything of value and took it for our own, or does that not count?

Then volunteer to pay extra tax to assuage your guilt, and take a few into your home.
Not sure bout Africa, but the large family you have can negatively affect society and culture due to the impact on the population crisis
Sorry but you are coming across as a thoroughly unpleasant man
Was that to me Spath?

I'm QUITE happy to put my money time and effort where my mouth is thanks Theland, but then I'm not the one people calla racist- wonder why that is?
Much as Europeans did with America and it's indigenous population, and India, if you look at any old globes, most of the world was coloured pink (British Empire).
We also, Calicogirl and Islay, brought great wealth to some of the Southern countries, notably South Africa and Rhodesia, although it has to be said the latter is now thoroughly ruined and the former is conducting a racist policy of stripping white farmers of their land and businesses without recompense.

Look, the British in days gone by cannot be considered saints, but you have to remember the British were at the forefront of abolishing slavery - and it is entirely foolish to compare what happened in the distant past with modern morality.

Spath - how dare you! A family of tax payers have children which keeps the country going.
Rockrose, you also should pay more tax and take a few in.
I haven't suggested doing that Deskdiary- I was responding to Theland's quote //We all speak English, and none of my family are jumping in boats and trying to get to Africa.// -that we have in fact already done that but presumably he thinks that way around that it's okay?
Question Author
How much a month extra do you send to the taxman to assuage your personal guilt?
^^^to do so results in the breathtaking idiocy of removing Kipling's 'If' from Manchester University (which isn't a racist poem - although the morons there couldn't see that through the fog of virtue signalling).
how much tax do you pay Theland?
My ^^^ was to my first post, so with a fast-moving thread probably looked like nonsense!

Calicogirl - understood.

Out of my company pension, I pay tax according to the law, it is taken before I receive what is left.
You can't send extra money to the Taxman Theland- I already pay 40% tax thanks very much, but I do support charities that cover the remit discussed.
Well I too pay tax for the last 30 years and I have another 20 years of working and paying tax but that’s not really relevant is it.
You are I’m afraid exactly the opposite of your statement.
I know it's all flying about in a bit of a blur Deskdiary :) x
Theland. What have you contributed to human advancement?
