Superiority - Why?

I am puzzled why some ABers make such strenuous efforts to assert their superiority in areas such as knowledge, morals, and jus about everything else they see a crack in the wall.
It often turns into uncomfortable posts, and becomes personal.
That's sad in my opinion.
So, my question is, "Should ABers be aware of their proclivity to be superior and make efforts to avoid it?"

My answer to the OP, Yes. I find a lot of answers come across as pompous

I think it's called a difference of opinion.
I am a jack of all trades and master of none - trivia is my game, also life experience.

However if someone is learned in a subject then I'm happy for them to impart that wisdom in a way that isn't too overbearing.
some go to great lengths to prove their religion, or lack of, is superior to all others. I've learnt to live with this. They'll find out soon enough whether they were right.

Are you for real? You are the worst offender.
I think you yourself make quite "strenuous efforts" to assert your superior knowledge of Biblical prophecy, Theland, and to convince the rest of us that we should accept and take heed to your version of the Christian faith.

I think people should argue honestly even if at the same time they're trying to prove their superiority in whatever.

But in practice, Theland, we're all children of Adam and who knows the human heart? All our motives are mixed. "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?".

I do hope you recognise the quotation.

Goodnight, Theland.
Some of us don't need to prove that we're superior.

Just knowing that we are is good enough for us ;-)
I'm extremely superiour, but I don't feel the need to tell ya all .!!!!! I don't like to show off :-)

My posts are just my opinions.
You have yours.
Yes, I draw your attention to stuff, but leave it at that.
I have never screeched "fire and brimstone."
Honestly, I really do enjoy the exchange of ideas.
Which one of my six cats are you, Buenchico?
V_E:
I could never aspire to being a cat. They're all about a zillion cubed times more intelligent than any human!

I take your point though. An air of superiority comes naturally to the feline species ;-)

Oh dear! The "Shut Up Mask," is on the horizon.
Censorship is alive and well on AB.
"YOU ARE THE WORST OFFENDER!"
The other skill of the cat, of course, is that its sense of entitlement, its patronising airs and its petulant dismissal of inferior service (all of which would cause resentment if we received such treatment from another human) become in their feline versions endearing characteristics

Vetuste - I hope you are doing OK after your recent and sad bereavement.
Keep posting, and I hope for all good things for you.
Thank you, Theland.
I seek superiority only to my former self.

Nice one Mibs.
Sadly you are oblivious then to the few who seek to score points off others
I know what you mean, I know that some on here tend to take the high ground and do not budge, sometimes they seem intolerant of human failings and are so stuck in a black is black white is white existence they can't see all the colour and complexity in between. There are some who seem to think if you don't think as they do you are somehow diminished. Of course there are some issues on which there can be no human option but to universally condemn but the condemnation should in my mind be directed at the person committing the act. Not the culture or social group.
I know there are site members who after 10 minutes in their company would probably result in my walking away shaking my head.

That's about it Rowan.
To quote Popeye,

"I yam wot I yam"

Take it or leave it.

ps: Not many Brownie points or Scout badges in my cupboard.
Thing is the ' I am what I am I speak as I find' attitude can cause hurt to others. We can all consider the effects of what we say and sometimes remember that the same truth can be spoken in kinder words
