Lord Adonis, Labour Peer, has consistently called for a second referendum on Brexit, is a Europhile, and it is no wonder that he wants to keep us in the undemocratic EU, because he has never been elected to anything in his life, and now makes a good living from him, the few, having a place on the gravy train paid for by the many.
An ermine clad parasite.

Hmmm.

The son of a Cypriot waiter, whose mother deserted the family when he was three, resulting in him being taken into care and placed in a council-run children's home, who still managed to get a place at Oxford (where he acieved a First Class Honours BA degree before going on to achieve both a Doctorate and a Fellowship). That reads like the start of a true 'rags to riches' story to me, which would seem to exemplify Labour's aspirations to create social mobility, rather than typifying an 'ermine clad parasite'.

Oh, BTW, he entered party politics when he was elected to Oxford City Council.
but apart from that ...

He is now an unelected mouthpiece for Remoaners.
yeah I had noticed he was elected to a city council
but thought we would get into an - elected-but-not-elected 'discussion'

Flooding in Somerset - he said that dredging canals wouldnt have saved the levels flooding - and since I live down there and he onlyu visited we all said - whaaaa?

but I hadnt realised he was in care and had risen to the highest levels - well done him !

two thirds of kids in care do make it - - - to Prison !

His astonishing educational achievements should not allow him to trump democracy. Well done him though.
he hasnt trumped democracy. In case you havent noticed, we are leaving the EU and NOT having a second referendum.
Theres no need to be so acidic just because he has a different view to you and dares to say it. Isn't THAT what democracy is all about?
// He is now an unelected mouthpiece for Remoaners//

o you mean like Tommy - until you pointed it out I hadnt realised the connection ( er unelected mouthpiece )

or if it is election to Parliament - just like Nigel Farage !
// educational achievements should not allow him to trump democracy. Well done him though.//

I agree - - - Farage should keep his mouth shut - - - oh you mean Tommy - sorry Lord Adonis
Didn't know much about his background - thanks for all the info.. Surprising, given that, that he has turned out to be such a horrible little man.

Have Tommy or Farage ever tried to trump democracy?
why jourdain?
Democracy is about taking a count of different views, accepting what most think is right, and doing one's best, whether it was you choice or not to accept the decision and make it work. Trying to delay and/or thwart the decision has no place in democracy.

As for Adonis, don't know him nor how much snout he has or hasn't in the trough.
YOUR
Had to Google him ( don't think that I'd ever heard of him ).
I thought Adonis was some sort of Greek statue thingy.
