Just watched a discussion which included William Lane Craig, where he rattled off a long list of philosophical and scientific professors in the USA and England who were Christians.
What are your thoughts on these academic giants holding such beliefs and sharing my faith?

May I ask for more precision, Theland? What do you mean by "my faith"? Your definition of what constitutes a Christian might appear to a casual reader of your posts to be rigorous to the point of eccentricity.

I can't speak for brilliant scientists (or even thick ones), but the common ground between them and theists may be that many scientists allow that current science has a technical difficulty accounting for origins, but, and more importantly, is
possibly incapable of accounting satisfactorily for moral values.

My faith is Christianity based on the Bible, without the bells, smells, and whistles added by so called, "Christian," religions like Roman Catholicism, Mormonism, J.W's, etc etc.
What are my thoughts ? Boring - who cares?
You have your faith, good luck to you?
I don't have your faith, good luck to me!
But I've known many Pentecostals, Seventh Day Adventists, JWs, Mormons and even Christadelphians, Theland, all making the same claim. When I was a kid straight-laced uncle George was Plymouth Brethren (Open).

At least acknowledge that the Bible is sometimes ambiguous.
Oh, a debate between Craig, who is not on VE's Christmas card list, and a theoretical physicist, the delightful Sean Carroll.

This debate includes a discussion of "Boltzmann Brains", a theoretical construct which is as near as anything I've seen yet to the even more surprising theoretical construct which is AB's Peter Pedant.
Apologies. The link is:

By the way, Theland, re my remark "But I've known many...".

(This is a digression from the specifics in your OP about scientists etc, to a wider cultural point.)

I've liked most of those "Christians". However divisive NT Christianity is theologically (we're talking eternal destiny, sheep and goats, Heaven and Hell here, aren't we?), the relationship between the Christian and the non-Christian is based on the NT injunction "Love thine enemy".

You can offer cynical explanations for what was at that time (and most times since) this counter-intuitive and impractical moral stance (there's the Roman occupation of Judaea for instance), and, of course, once Christianity had attained temporal power these idealistic policies of primitive Christianity were frequently subordinated to more pragmatic ones.

But there's a moral residue there, commonly expressed as "Hate the sin, but love the sinner". That is part of my cultural legacy (and that of most Europeans, actually), rabid atheist as I am.
I should say cultural and moral inheritance.
Academic giants are entitled to hold a variety of religious/spiritual beliefs, much like the rest of us. Spiritual and corporal matters are different spheres of investigation/contemplation.
Yes they are Christians but they do not try to convert the students and others to their way of thinking. Or keep on insisting that the world is about to end due to Bible prophesies .

The restoration of Israel in1948, Jerusalem in 1967, the ongoing problems surrounding the Middle East, and moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, and the bible calling Jerusalem a cup of trembling, are just a fraction of the prophecies that strike a chord with me.

Ephesians 3:9-21 King James Version (KJV)

9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:

10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,

11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:

12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.

13 Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.

14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;

19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
Ezekiel 26 prophesied that that Nebuchadnezzar would completely sack and destroy the city of Tyre and that Tyre's land would never be built upon again. Last time I checked it was still a thriving city.

Ezekiel 29 prophesied that Egypt would be a desolate wasteland and no people or animals would walk through it. Last time I checked it appeared to be far from desolate

Ezekiel 30 prophesied that the Nile would dry up. Last time I checked it appeared to be pretty wet.

These are just a fraction of the Bibles *failed* prophecies. Plenty more where they came from Theland.
As I mentioned on another thread, its a case of cognitive bias, You will take what fits your belief system and totally ignore what proves it wrong.
//What are your thoughts on these academic giants holding such beliefs and sharing my faith?//

A quick Google search brings up lists of Muslim academics, scientists and philosophers. What are your thoughts on them?

Nailit, I don't think you would ever want to to believe.
You write off any evidence with apparent glee. That's O.K.
I don't write off anything with glee, merely ask for proof Theland.

I listed a FEW things but you went off to look for others you could shoot down. Are the ones I mentioned not credible? Anyway, it's what I believe. So many great vids on YouTube dealing with this. We are not all delusional nutters.

Johnny.5 - Thank you. I am a fool. Here is me trying to second guess Christ, and argue on His behalf.
His will be done, not mine.
Theland, what are your thoughts on the many more 'academic giants' who don't share your faith?
//I listed a FEW things but you went off to look for others//
And I can name MANY more, but you choose to ignore them.
Care to answer Naomi's post? (or mine come to that)?
