Why should Great Britain apologise for past crimes, and open the door for compensation to people who were not born then?
India and Africa?
It wasn't my fault!

Mmmmm....my family lost good land to the British.......If Ireland's included I'd be interested in the compensation..... :-)

History proves you right.
I didnt take it though, so why should my tax pay you?
My socks have holes in them.
You have socks!!!!! Wow.....we didn't.... :-(
"I didnt take it though"
But you and I benefited from it, whether or not we intended to.
Question Author
Yes I benefitted.
Outside toilet, one cold tap, patches in my kecks, and a childhood lived in poverty, in spite of parents who worked like crazy and saved us from reality.
We thought we were well off.
How did we benefit?
You had a toilet and a tap......I had a spring well down the field and some dock leaves......x
I'm still waiting for an apology from the Romans - what did they ever do for us ... ?
Question Author
Not nettles?
Question Author
I want an apology from the Japs.
Dad was their guest on the Burma railway for three and a half years.
No, Theland.....I discovered the difference between nettles and dock leaves painfully at a very early age..... :-(
I have spoken to a couple of gallant men who shared that dubious honour with your Father, an apology would make little difference but I wish you well in that quest.
Question Author
Don't want an apology. Not this generations fault. Them and me.
Let's move on without the blame game.
My uncle was kept in a small bamboo cage hung from a wire, and was bayoneted several times, by the Japanese. Turned his hair white. An apology would mean nothing. Different generations, different times. Live for the now, and the future, learn from the past.
time to move on to be honest, what's done can't be undone.
I think we should sue the Roman's for invading us 2,000 years ago (even if they did leave us with some fantastic archaeology)

We can also sue the French (Normans) for invading us 1,000 years ago and taking all the land off the then "British" and giving it to French "Lords".
In reply to that Guilbert should Indigenous Australians also sue the British for sending their lowest of life over here and stealing their land?

Most "civilised countries (tongue in cheek reference there) have something to answer for in history.
//It wasn't my fault!//
that's why you don't have to apologise
Norman's are not French.
Normans

the phone in its Wisdom, thought I meant people called Norman. (see what I did there?)
