Let's all hope so stokie,Trish and I always go down to the local war memorial,it's not so many years ago that hardly anybody would be there know it seems like half the village turns out.

I will be at our local war memorial tomorrow and again on Tuesday. I too hope for a peaceful parade in London.
Agreed, Stoke, lovely to see you, regards to you and Mrs M.
Spare a thought for the men and women of the White Poppy appeal. And don't make it a kind thought. This wretched outfit "believes that there are better ways of solving conflicts than killing strangers". That is how they describe the sacrifice of British and Allied lives in the inescapable war against Nazi Germany and the Axis powers.
People who wear white poppies – who include the sanctimonious prats of the "Christian" think tank Ekklesia – not only dishonour our war dead: they also assert their supposed moral superiority over the 40 million Britons who wear British Legion red poppies.
What should you do if you see a white poppy wearer today? At the very least you should give them a cheery wave not involving the use of all your fingers.
I recently did a 3 day WW1 battlefield tour in France and Belgium staying at Ypres taking some school kids, and it certainly opened my eyes to what those guy's went through. The war graves are immaculate and well tended all over the region. I intend to go back in my car next time to take more time looking around.

hi psybbo and hi to you too...
I'd love to do that, moony.
I know I seem to make a joke of most things but I found it quite moving especially the service held at the Menin Gate in Ypres every night Tony.
Let us hope so, stokemaveric. For my part, it will be - and also on the 11th at the local memorial remembrance act of respect.
I've only ever seen it on the telly, I'd love to see it in the flesh though moony.
what's the music that the families have just come out to....it's a film and I can't remember....very moving
Gabriels Oboe, whispers in the wind
Book yourself on a dedicated WW1 battlefield coach tour Tony, you will not regret it.
I don't know a movie it's from, it's just a piece of music I love - Hayley Westerna sings it and I think it's beautiful
thanks, ducksie....
Couldn't find the one that you mention, ducksie not without singing anyway.
