Are they going to be a major problem for Cameron in the next 18 months?
Will war break out in the Conservative Party again, over Europe?

95 Consetvative MPs have written to the Prime Minister bemanding he enacts powers to veto everything coming from the EU. That will obviously not happen soon. They are mischief making. Their letter to the PM is here:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/conservative/10566124/EU-veto-The-Tory-MPs-letter-to-David-Cameron.html

I'm sre a lot of you will agree with the letter. But in fighting and internl squabbles going into an an lection will just lead to a huge Labour win, will it not?

>>For Funks Sake Gromit most tories are revolting

Yes far better to have Labour MPs who allowed thousands of illegal and legal immigrants into the country when they were in office, gave away benefits to anyone and everyone, and then managed to bankrupt the country.

And people like Prescott and Blair and Brown are such wonderful human beings aren't they.

How much did Prescott claim on his MPs expenses to put Tudor "beams" on the front of his house?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/mps-expenses/5293199/MPs-expenses-Two-lavatory-seats-in-two-years-for-John-Prescott.html

And I think you will find more Labour MPs and Lords have been to prison for fiddling expenses than Tory MPs and Lords.

But what the hell, like most comedians, it is far easier to ridicule the "right" than the "left".
most Tories are not revolting, they are just doing their jobs. However infighting is nothing new and Cameron's knows that, Labour are no better in that respect. Next election could be won on the EU question, if he said we should get out then suggest it would be a landslide victory for the Tories.
Even some on the the left think that we should redraft, redraw, change the terms of our entry, That is probably all one can hope for. Huge Labour win, no it won't, it could be a win for Labour but i doubt anyone in politics get a huge win over any issue, they all flip flop on big issues, modern politics is not about solving crises, it's holding onto your job.
Once again, the open sore that is Europe is ripping the Tory party asunder...what a surprise !
so what's Ed's answer, hand over all our sovereignty to them, to turn us into nothing but a pooterville.
To answer your last question Gromit...yes, I hope and expect so !
Mikey, how about answering Emmie's question?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2537029/We-let-people-decide-Mandelson-warns-against-LOTTERY-giving-voters-say-leaving-European-Union.html

Some Labour big-wigs say the British public can't be trusted over Europe.

/// Former European Commissioner Lord Mandelson, who will get a lucrative pension from Brussels at 65, said politicians should not entrust the public with an in-out vote on the EU as the outcome would be a lottery. ///

/// Lord Kinnock, whose family is reported to have received £10million in pay, perks and pension entitlements while he and his wife Glenys worked in Brussels, attacked the plans as an appeasement to Eurosceptics. ///

naomi24...I have re-read emmie's post and can't find a question, just a series of statements. Perhaps you can cut and paste her question, and I shall have a go at answering it. Clue...it might end in a ?
Pleasure. (I'll add the question mark she omitted).

//so what's Ed's answer[?]//
No harm in it. If the eurosceptic public think there's a choice between a party that wants the status quo and one which is, or is potentially, against the status quo, which will they vote for?
Labour are fully committed to remaining in the EU. Unlike the Tories, this issue of Europe is not tearing the party apart.

Their theme is " Reform in Europe, not exit from Europe " It is a stand which I also support, and I make no apology for my position. Its quite clear and unambiguous. The Tories seem to want have their cake and eat it too. Europe is seen by most Tories as a lot of Johnny Foreigners, and they have never been able to put this basic distaste of the European Union behind them and move on, thus the on-going open sore that never has time to heal between elections.

It seems obvious to me that a lot of present Tory voters will abscond over the fence to UKIP at the next election, but only a small amount of Labour voters are likely to do so. This is what Dave fears more than anything, even more than Boris breathing down his neck.

// Some Labour big-wigs //

They are not really big-wigs. They have no power in the Labour Party. They are has-beens put out to grass in the Lords. While Labour were in power for 13 years they never offered a referendum on Europe, so many isn't going o change his mind now.

That should be "...so Mandy isn't going to change his mind now".

True, very very true, that is why If i were a Tory campaign manager I would inform the electorate in no uncertain terms that a vote for UKIP is a vote for Labour........let the electorate then decide.

Come the election, Europe will be way down the list of priorities for the voters......it will be " do I feel a better standard of living now or would a change in Government accelerate my yearnings."

We shall see.

As the Labour Party demonstrated under Foot and Kinnock, if the party is a shambles, the public will not vote for it. The last time the Tories were at war with themselves over Europe, under Hague, Howerd and IDS, they suffered the same fate.
Good Morning Sqad !

How true ! The last accusation I could level at the Tories is that they are stupid and I expect that their campaign managers will indeed be pointing out that a vote for UKIP is a vote against the Tories, if not an actual vote for Labour. But they may be unwilling to mention UKIP at all, lest it stir up trouble for themselves in the medium to long run !

UKIP are essentially a non-serious party, out for mischief-making rather anything actually positive. They are anti-everything rather than pro-anything. I still maintain that they will not take many, if any seats in the next General Election, just entice votes away from the Tories.

I am not too sure that you have got it entirely correct that Europe will be way down the list of important things to our voters come May 2015 but I accept that it probably won't be on top of the pile. That is why Labour are concentrating on making the point about living standards in Britain today being dragged down by the present so-called Coalition policies. Because, as you say, voters are more likely to be persuaded one way or the other by how much money they have in their pockets, rather than any esoteric argument about Europe.
Morning mikey!
I hope its warmer with you than it is in Swansea.....its only just above freezing !

By the way, did you get the problem sorted out with Mrs Sqad's router and you not wanting her in your room ?
mikey...cloudy, but warm.

Yes. 2 TPR boosters, one in my study and one in Mrs sqad's kitchen...works a treat.
