I thought that the heir hunters were not told what a person's estate was worth , so to avoid cherry picking ?

This morning he stated that the Chambers estate was worth 50k

I didn't watch this morning's episode, but it could have been an old case, or one that the company had been asked to look into.

Did the narrator say what the value was, or one of the heir hunter guys? If the former, the presenter could have been saying it with hindsight.

They are not told by the Treasury; it's not on the list. But they'll have a rough idea from other information and other records; what the person's address is, whether it is encumbered, not in their name, etc
I think they initially make a rough estimate based on the assumption the last address was owned by the deceased.
fox hunting is banned yet they get away with heir hunting am I missing summit

They make it sound as if they are tracing family members out of some altruistic motive , rather than the simple fact that they want a cut of the estate .
I think they want about a third of the inheritance. This programme is like watching vultures picking over the bones of someones life.
