I notice some Scots type on the internet type in their dialect eg; using 'nae' for no etc etc.

Maybe everyone should start typing in their own dialect to stamp their own provincial individuality on every thread.

of course you'll notice I'm from the south and this is how words appear in the manner of correct pronunciation.

Tha'rt reet .You are right
If everyone typed in their own dialect I think we would all be confused and bewildered but it might be a laugh as long as there as explanations alongside the answers!
I usually call this thing t'internet, but I'm not from up there.

If a Scot asks "furry boots?", what should you answer?
Fit like aye....ma new Uggs are fer fine
Most Scot wouldn't use "Furry Boots", that's a very Aberdonian phrase. There are a multitude of dialects within Scotland never mind the different dialects in Englandshire and Wales
Fair enough, Slapshot.
Are you aiming to start another war slapshot calling it Englandshire
Nah....its just the local dialect...;0)
If people want to be understood and taken seriously, its more practicable to use a common vocabulary. When people post in dialect, and I do it myself on occasion, I assume that is for the effect of buffoonery.
octavius you sound like a right stuffed shirt, the dialects of England,Scotland, Ireland and Wales are sacred.
The varying dialects are one of the richest parts of these islands, they should never be abused or undermined.
Furry Boots" means where are you from, I am Scots and do not say nae, we don,t all speak like Rab C Nesbitt you know.

Yes owdhamer, its fine in general conversation within your speech community where it is probably most usefully understood. On a common forum in written form, its quite pointless, for the reasons I state.
I've been posted from home in Ayrshire, to North Yorkshire to Germany to Aberdeen over my 25year career so far and every time I've moved i've had to learn a new Language!

Learning German was much easier than the Doric (Aberdeenshire dialect)
Aw right ah kid.
There are people on here who are difficult enough to understand when posting in English, I doubt we could cope if they were to slip into the vernacular!
