i am very untidy and have a lot of stuff, and i am trying to sort all my stuff out.

I have noticed i have a lot of empty or half empy drawers, tubs, shelves, boxes etc, and lots of stuff is out and visible... because despite my untidyness, i seem unable to fill them - unless everything in them is of the same type of thing ... such as all my DVDs, batteries, photos, electrical stuff, makeup etc etc

i look at a drawer and think, what can go in there?... and unless its all the same, theres enough to fill it, and its suitable - it doesnt go in! it sits empty!

i have a couple of 'rummage' drawers but even they are all 'of a type' such as all kitchen stuff etc

why cant i just put everything away SOMEWHERE? why do i care if its not the tight type of thing?

any thoughts? - other than me being a weirdo...haha

i do have loads of catagories and some are quite vague...but still, cant seem to sort it
Use boxes that fit in the drawers for small categories. Being 'tidy' and 'organised, seem to be mutually exclusive. This is because there are more smaller categories than large categories, so you have to either lump together smaller categories or have an increasing number of smaller drawers.
joko, I got three cardboard boxes the other day, in an attempt to sort the chaos in our large bathroom. Labelled them Hair, teeth, bath stuff, Men's things - and anything fitting those categories (even remotely) is now in those boxes. I found loads of shampoo and bath stuff I didn't even know I'd got.

Ummm, I can't bring myself to throw away good stuff...
joko, file it all away under the category of miscellany.

Says she who has a drawer for underwear, a drawer for t-shirts only, a drawer for socks. A drawer for cutlery (moved to the kitchen now before anyone suggests I've a weird house) a drawer for tea towels and so on
I've got drawers for loads of categories, I just have a huge amount of drawers (most of them chock full)
^^ just don't tell Welshy tomorrow :-D

thanks everyone... i do have lots of little boxes, and pots and small containers for things and its hard to fill them too...

its also stuff that a use a lot...i dont want to keep putting it all away and getting it out all the time, so i am trying to sort a kind of 'now' or 'most used' drawer or basket or something, that is nearest to where i sit.

i have moved all my SD cards and flash drives etc about 4 times now...first tin was too small, second box was way too big...(so i uncluded usb leads...then it was too small again!) and now they are in a mini box with drawers in..but even thats not really suitable...ah well haha
the box i think would be ideal for them, an ornamental one, is above the fireplace so i dont want to risk heat damaging them ... oh the stress! haha

i do use plastic ziplock bags and try to bag stuff up...at least then it wont all just be strewn around the drawers

i think i will look into the drawer dividers though... those sock/underwear type ones

i am glad i am not alone...

i just thought it was a strange situation to be in, given my extremely untidy and carefree nature, that this woul dbe a problem for me...haha
I put stuff away properly and neatly in drawers where I know where to find it. Unfortunately Mr LL doesn't - he uses t he backs of chairs, kitchen tables, the floor, etc. etc. and then complains when I put them away that he knew exactly where they were until I cleared up!!
