I am thinking about moving in with my mate. We are having geographical issues as neither of us wants a long commute to work (we both work in Bucks,) and after looking at a map and having a drive around, a likely compromise looks like Rickmansworth, which is just outside of Watford.
Can anyone tell me what this place is like as a place to live?

Rickmansworth is very nice. there is a train station, it's close enough to the M25/M1. a few restaurants, M&S food hall, nice pubs, some lovely walks nearby. I haven't lived there but I have an ex who is there (a blot on the landscape!) and stayed there quite a lot.

but come to St Albans where I am.. it's lovely!

Aw thanks! I would love to live in St Albans as I know it well (currently living in hemel) however this will be no good for my mates commute to work (near slough) as it's just a tad too far.
Are there any areas of rickmansworth which should be avoided or is it generally a good area with no dodgy parts??
Rickmansworth is generally quite a wealthy town and some of the residential areas along the Chorleywood Road, like Loudwater, positively ooze affluence. The slightly less affluent areas are towards Croxley and out on the Uxbridge Road, but if you get to live there I am sure you would not regret it.
