Tyne and Wear
The big one is in Northumberland. I think.

Historic county Northumberland (until 1400)
Actually Newcastle is a county in its own right - the City and County of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Geographically it is in Tyne and Wear, formerly in Northumberland but had separate local government to the rest of the county.

I took a wrong turning in Dublin and ended up in Newcastle.

Tyne and Wear is a fiction invented by Ted Heath. The metropolitan county councils were abolished by Margaret Thatcher; all the councils in the area are unitary.
