Has anyone got any idea what the thing is in the middle of the M8 just after Harthill? Its a long pole with a cone at the top of it looking down onto the Motorway.  Its on the side as if you were heading to Glasgow looks a bit like a big long silver dropping flower

Could it be a camera?
i dont know what it officially is, but i work pretty close to there and we've always referred to it as the Tellytubby land.   Near by there is a big grass hill, and then that is the speaker that is used.  Yes we are sad - we know!

I think its probably a sculpture by David Mach. I think he maybe did the wireframe horse also. I'll need to check.

I think they're great, and a nice welcome to the city for those comin up on the left haun side o 'country.

I'm a big fan of the rest of David Mach's stuff, worth a look.

If its this it's by Dalziel and Scullion.
I thought I was the only one who thought about the tellytubbies when I saw it!  Glad to actually have it named now.

Thanks for your answers. I used to think it was an eyesore but now that I know about it and heard what is says I think its fab - cheers again
shaz and buttons we,re all sad together then because i too refer to it as teletubby thing. i actually like the three red faces that you can see straight on , funky stuff

when it first got put there there were loads of things in the local/scottish papers about it being the telly tubby horn....all the wee (pre-school) kids thought that was what it was, and so it stuck.  It's cool, but not as cool as the wire frame horse or the 3 heads, also along the same route.
