You are a lucky young man Theland1(I called you Thesea on your dad's thread). My father and his 2 brothers were in the RN and as a 16 yr old I wanted to join. I those days parental consent was needed for under 21s(I think) and my mother would not give it. All of us on here will be wishing you well and hoping that you can both thrive and enjoy it. We are not expecting you to...

Best wishes YoungT - a fabulous career you have chosen x
Good luck - a mate of mine from schooldays was one of HM's nuclear sub commanders, and then ended up as Dartmouth commodore before retiring and taking over as harbourmaster of a Devon port. His nuclear engineer worked for me and was nuts, 6ft 4 (in a sub), full set, drunk like as fish (as in over 15 a night) and his hobby was blasting ducks out of the sky in the Dee Estuary.

FV and I met up, the debate whether the sub had considered putting Simon in one of the tubes, the decision to flood it or expedite him towards the Russians......
Good luck lad my husband did 22 years and has been out longer than he was in but he would go back tomorrow. Make the most of your time - You won't make better mates or memories

I those days parental consent was needed for under 21s(I think) and my mother would not give it. All of us on here will be wishing you well and hoping that you can both thrive and enjoy it. We are not expecting you to post on a regular basis or to feel any obligation on behalf of your late father. We will be grateful when you do update us but understand that being in the RN will have its own restrictions and distractions. Have a safe journey and LISTEN. Have 2 ears and one mouth, don't bully or be bullied, earn your respect in there and you will have it to spare for others for the rest of your life. Bon Voyage. ... "I joined the Navy to see the World, and what did I see, I saw the sea." (^_*)
Togo, I thought it was 'Join the Navy, see the World. Meet different people and catch exotic Oriental diseases,' whereas the Army is 'Join the Army, see the World. Meet different people and kill them.'

What the RAF's 'motto' on this theme is, I have no idea.
Good on you, YoungTheland_1, enjoy your service ...
Exciting times. A. Old colleague of mine was in the Navy and she had a great time. Good luck.
Some say it's a ten week course, take care booking the train home.
Hope everything goes OK
Well done that man! I hope you have an amazing career in the Royal Navy.

As one who calls Plymouth home, welcome and enjoy both the city and every minute of your training course. I wish you every success.
Good luck,and Godspeed.
Good luck with your chosen career. I am sure you will enjoy it. Not easy but well worthwhile. You will do well I am sure.

I must admit the males in my family go for a different service but they all say their service 'family' gives them the best of friendships and care. And yours will.
Well done young man. You will encounter good and bad times. Be steadfast and enjoy the ride. May wisdom and good fortune be yours. Your dad would be proud of you.
good luck.
I remember your Dad telling us you were off to Raleigh.
No need to worry about making him proud of you. He already was :o)

Just drop in when you can, with an update.
