I use a paper cutter for my card making, but recently it hasn't been giving a sharp edge to my paper and card. I always end up having to trim it off. Does anyone know how I can sharpen the blade on the cutter? (It isn't detachable)

you can try cutting through some aluminium foil or some fine or medium grade sandpaper, this should help. You may need several sheets to notice the difference. What make is the paper cutter as most of them have a detachable blade. I am a card maker too so nice to help a fellow crafter.

Its only a basic one I got free with an A4 rotary cutter years ago from Makro. Not even sure of the make. Might look into buying a better one, any suggestions of good brands e.g Fiskars etc.

Thanks for your helpful tip on sharpening the paper cutter
For all my basic straightforward cutting I use a Dahle paper trimmer which I bought in Costco about 9 or 10 years ago and is still going strong. I have also got a Rotatrim edge master 300 which was quite expensive about 60 if I remember correctly, but it does come with a spare cutting strip, a hand held cutter and 10 different fancy edge cutting blades like scallop, wavy, deckle etc which I find much better than using decorative edge scissors as I found I could never match up the pattern using scissors. If you are on a budget (and who isn't at the moment) then Lidl sometimes have paper trimmers in for about 10 and they are quite good too.
