I have tried to find the answer on ebay but not really much help.
I have sold a remote control toy on ebay. Before I posted it to buyer I put new batteries in and tested it.
It was working perfectly. It was well packed in bubble wrap and poly chips.
The buyer has now asked for a refund because they say it isnt working.
If they return it and it is working what then.
If I refund them and they leave me bad feedback I will have trouble reselling the item.
Really upset by this as it was my first ever sale.

You have had really back luck on your first sale. All you can do is ask for it back and if it isnt working give them a refund. Have you had a look at their feedback to see if they have a history of complaining? I looked at the feedback of someone who said my packing for an item was not good and they had done this to many people.
If they return it to you - they have to pay the postage and if you refund, only refund on the actual price of the item not what it cost to send it to them.

Contact Ebay on 0808 109 3229 - for their advice.

good luck samuel.

Thanks for the speedy replies.Very helpful.
Dont worry E bay or should I say Paypal always support the seller, I bought an electrical item last year it cost £239 , when it arrived it was not the item advertised also it was faulty and kept cutting out. I e- mailed the seller who admitted it wasnt the actual item he advertised and was in fact a much cheaper inferior version, as per his instructions I returned it.He said he would refund me on receipt.
He then e mailed me saying I had returned the item in a damaged state..he included pictures supposedly showing the damage, these were of a of a completly different model to the one I had returned!!!
He refused to refund my money and it went to dispute . Despite all the evidence I had of his admissions and his illegal advertising Paypal found in his favour. I was disgusted I had made over 1000 transactions on ebay with 100% positive feedback. Needless to say I spoke to trading standards about him and he no longer trades on ebay............well not in the same name.
If you know they are pulling a scam on you refuse to back down ! Good luck
stand your ground you will get more respect from your buyer that way ,and if they send you a message saying they are going to leave bad feedback then remind them that you can also leave feedback ,i had to do this a few weeks back with an item i sold ,i hope you sort it out good luck
