It has always been my dream to own a hot tub, but Ive never been able to afford one. Ive just learned of this 295 hot tub which is within my budget but I am concerned because it is still a lot of money and I want clarification on something:

How much different is it to a real hot tub with jets? Because this doesnt have jets just air blowers, and I cant afford to spend 295 only to find out it's not half as relaxing as a real hot tub.

Can someone who owns this pls advise??

Something that noisy could never be relaxing. Some reviews here:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lay-Z-Spa-Portable-Hot -digital-control/dp/B000FII3U6
If you are concerned about cost, one reviewer says it costs between 5 and 10 a week to run. Takes 8 hours to warm up if you let it go cold.
And of course you need to buy chemicals for it.
It might cheer you up to know that the two inches above the water will be full of bacteria and germs - and that is the air you will be breathing. If you don't get the chemical levels right your skin will suffer, either from a reaction to too much chemicals or because your skin will dry out.

thanks hc

from ehat ive read as long as you keep the temperature above 0c the water doesnt need replacing, and to maintain the heat you just put the lid on. th biggest chore seems to be bringing the pump inside on cold nights or when its raining. as for the cost, weekly costs arent my main concern, because its either this spa or no spa at all, and having one is something that i think about all the time.
as for the chemicals, they provide instructions so as long as i stick rigorously to them it should be ok.
thanks 4 the link, ive read them all and there are some great reviews too - the 12 month warranty is good especially if there are pump problems, but one reviewer suggested they keep modifying the pump to iron out such problems so perhaps now its ok
i really want to get one now, because i cant afford a proper one even on finance and probably wont be able to for years. if im going to get one i think im going to need to act fast before i miss the summer.
thanks again for the reply and the link : )
hi, i dont have any experience with hot tubs but i do have experience with life and my advice is - you get what you pay for. proper hot tops cost 10x that amount, so i would imagine that this one is 10 times as inferior as them
Brought the lay-z-spa about 18 months ago. It is easy to put up but not as portable as you might think. Emptying is a bit of a task & takes ages. The elastic on the outer cover snapped on 3 sides after a few months meaning there was nothing to hold the inflatable cover down. It takes at least overnight to reach temperature from cold & as you're not supposed to run the heater for more than 8 hours! Once its reached temperature & you put the blower on, the new version pump then turns the heater off. I've seen on the sites that they say it then loses 1 - 2 degrees an hour but by experience, even on a warm day, its more like 4 degrees in the half hour the blower runs. As the bubbles are made by air through holes in the lining, they can be quite cold if you sit with your back to the wall. Ours is kept in a shed brought just for the spa, with a plastic lined floor but we still empty the pump in winter if the temperature drops as the pump will break down if not. In the year we had this running, we had to have the pump replaced 7 times, sometimes it took them over a month to replace it. The bottem is inflated & comfortable to sit on provided you're not too short. Ours seperated at one og the joins after about 9 months, the repair kit they provide doesn't work on the joins! We can still use it without the bottem being inflated but I have to kneel upright to stay above the water & its not as comfortable. When the warranty runs out, the replacement parts are expensive & we are now trying to decide wether or not to buy a new one & try again! Hope this helps

thanks frejus, it seems like a lot of hassle but thats probably why they only cost 300. i wonder if its possible to pay a little extra for a longer warranty
ive just measured where i was going to put it and there isnt enough room so now i need to buy or build a level platform for my sloping lawn - and how im going to do that ive no idea but im determined to try and make it work
Buy one !

I have one and friends do too, With any pool, spa, hot tub u need to put chemicals in, and running costs are part of owning one. Its comfy and to be honest if it does bust outside warranty buy another ! Still cheaper than a hot tub !

I have built an insulated housing for the pump so dont have to worry about weather so much and cuts the noise of the pump a treat !

Get in it before bed and sleep like a baby ! Now thats worth 300 nicker
