Hi, I am about to start training for the Moonwalk this year and would like a (reasonably priced) pedometer that registers the speed I am walking and how far I have travelled.

I have looked into the Nike / Ipod gizmo but I don't have a Nano and alternatives on this site http://walking.about.com/od/measure/tp/speedom eter.htmbut they are all really expensive!

can you not simply map out a route of say 1 mile and then time how long it takes? if it takes you 20 mins then you are walking at 3mph.wont cost a penny then.
Go to Millets or Browns.

I got a good Silva pedometer (step-counter) for 9.99, it does steps, time, calories, distance.
... and not a pole one, mine attaches to the waistband.
Sorry, 3 in a row.

Mattk, the great thing about a pedometer is that it is motivational. If you see you have done say, 11,578 steps, psychologically you feel - I'll go for the round 12,000

Thanks guys that is great. I hear what you are saying Matt, it is just the training is anywhere between 3 mile walks to 20 miles and is a lot of work to try and map out each course for each training session.

9.99 is a great price - thank you Whiffey!
